Interview for multiple positions
Interviews are scheduled to be held at ICAR–Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute
(CMFRI), Kochi, for the recruitment of Project Associates (five for ICAR-CMFRI, Kochi and
one for ICAR-CMFRI, Mangalore) under the project titled “Exploration and inventory of
seamount fishery resources with a focus on cephalopod assemblage in the Indian Seas and
automated characterization using Artificial Intelligence”, an MOES funded Project under
DOM-Vertical-3.
The eligible candidates fulfilling all the requirements are advised to submit the application form

● This recruitment is purely temporary, for a period of two years or until the
completion of the project, whichever is earlier.

Essential
qualifications
Master’s Degree in Fisheries Science/ Marine Science/ Zoology/
Mariculture/ Marine biology/ Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, or
an equivalent qualification from a recognized University
Desirable
Experiences
1. Candidates should be seaworthy and physically fit.
2. Skill in swimming and/ or certified diving experience
3. Working experience in fisheries and oceanographic data
collection onboard vessels/boats and experience in
handling oceanographic equipment
4. Expertise in fish and shellfish identification
5. Experience in Photography, video production and
editing; digital data processing
6. Scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals/
technical reports/ popular articles.
Working Conditions
1. Candidate should be willing to work onboard commercial
fishing vessels (e.g. trawlers, purse seiners) for multi-day
sampling operations.
2. Willingness to undertake deep-sea long-duration
research cruises in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal
for survey and data collection
3. Willingness to travel to different locations along the
Indian coast for surveys and sampling and to go onboard
regularly in the commercial fishing vessels/ research
vessels.
4. Data entry, data mining, compilation, tabulation,
preparation of technical reports, data analysis, image
analysis and annotation, scientific documentation and
research outputs.
Nature and duration
of the post
Post is purely on a contract basis for a period of two years from
the date of joining or till the completion of the project whichever
is earlier
Age limit Upper age limit 35 years as on the date of advertisement

Emoluments (in

i. 31,000/- + HRA to scholars who are selected through (a)
National Eligibility Tests – ICAR/ CSIR-UGC NET
including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or
(b) A selection process through National level examinations

conducted by Central Government Departments and their
Agencies and Institutions
ii. 25,000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above

along the Indian coast as per work requirements.
