Admission Guidelines for Ph.D. Programme
1. GENERAL
ELIGIBILITY
1.1 After Master’s Degree: A 1/2/3-year Master's degree programme after a 3/4/5-years Bachelor’s degree programme, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
1.2 After Bachelor’s (Hons/Research)
Degree: A
candidate seeking admission after a 4/5-years Honours Bachelor’s with Research
Degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate, or its
equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
1.3 A relaxation of 5% marks in aggregate or 0.5 CGPA may be permitted for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Differently-Abled, and EWS candidates.
1.4 M.Phil. Degree: Candidates
who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate
or its equivalent grade.

3. Ph.D. PROGRAMME
Two categories
of Ph.D. programme available are: Full-time and Part-time. Candidates who
satisfy the eligibility criteria are eligible to apply for Ph.D. Programme in
both categories.
3.1 Full-Time Ph.D. Programme
3.1.1 A
candidate devoting full time on campus for the research programme shall be
called a full-time scholar. Full-time scholars shall do research work in the
University Schools, OR Collaborated Colleges/Institutes/FRI
under the MNR Educational Trust in MNR HERA Campus and should be
available during the working hours for curricular and related activities.
3.1.2 Candidates
who clear the selection criteria of the Ph.D. admission of the University and
working in the projects undertaken from State / Central / Quasi Government and
fully funded projects in the University Schools shall register for the research
programme under the supervisorship of the Principal Coordinator / Investigator
of such projects. Such
supervisors should be regular teaching faculty as well as recognized
supervisors of this University. The scholar should be appointed in a
project sanctioned by a funding agency/organization at least for a period of
two years. Centre where the project is undertaken should be the recognized
research centre of the University and also the working place of the applicant.
3.1.3 Candidates
who are sponsored by AICTE under the Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) for
teachers of Engineering Colleges and who satisfy the eligibility conditions
shall apply for Full-time category only, in the Specializations as notified in
the AICTE guidelines.
3.14 Candidates
who are selected at National-level Fellowship programmes or by any recognized
bodies and who satisfy the eligibility conditions as per the regulations shall
apply for Full-time category in the respective Specialization.
3.1.5 Foreign
Nationals sponsored by the Government of India or their respective Government
on any exchange programme and who satisfy the eligibility conditions as per the
regulations shall apply for Full-time category in the respective
Specialization.
Note: For Regular
Full-Time Ph.D. Students –
1.
Daily Face Biometric Attendance is mandatory to be
eligible for stipend.
2.
University Staff Leavy Policy is applicable excluding
Vacation and Earned Leaves.
3. All Full Time Scholars irrespective of discipline, shall be required to train in teaching/education/pedagogy/writing related to their chosen Ph.D. subject during their doctoral period. Ph.D. Scholars will also be assigned a minimum of 8–10 hours per week of teaching/research assistantship for conducting tutorial/laboratory work and evaluations/ structured knowledge dissemination as approved by the Program or Center.
3.2 Part-Time Ph.D. Programme
The following
categories of candidates are eligible to apply for Ph.D. under Part-time
category.
3.2.1 Part-Time Internal Scholars

Full-time regular employees of
MNR University (MNRU) University willing to pursue Ph.D.
·
Full-time regular employees
working in the organizations under MNR Educational Trust and willing to pursue
Ph.D.
3.2.2 Part-Time External Scholars
·
Employees of Industries/Colleges/Government
Schools/Research organizations/ Universities or other Higher Educational
Institutions.
3.2.3
Requirements for Part-Time:
3.2.4 Must
submit a “No Objection Certificate” from their employer stating that the
candidate is permitted to pursue studies on a part-time basis and that their
official duties permit sufficient time for research.
3.2.5 Must spend
a minimum of 15 days per semester at MNR University for discussion with the
Supervisor.
3.2.6 Must
complete a minimum of 120 days of in-person research work at MNRU during the
entire programme.
3.2.7 Candidates
working in Industry are eligible to apply for Ph.D. under Part-Time mode and
supervisor should be from University Schools, OR Collaborated Colleges/Institutes/FRI under the MNR
Educational Trust in MNR HERA Campus. The candidates shall enclose the
NOC from the employer as per the format.

4.
MODE OF SELECTION
4.1 The
candidates desirous to register Ph.D. Programme shall apply by filling all the
relevant details mentioned in the online application form available in the
University website and submit online on or before the due date as indicated in
the notification.
4.2. Incomplete
applications and applications with false information in any respect shall be
summarily rejected without any intimation to the candidate.
4.3. The
Research and Development Cell (RDC) shall screen the applications as per the
eligibility norms, and shall conduct Doctoral Program Entrance Test (DPET) for
eligible candidates. The syllabus for the Written test will be sent to the
short-listed candidates. The Written Test shall have 50% of research
methodology and 50% of subject specific content. The test consists of 70 marks
(70 MCQs) and of 90 minutes duration. Candidates must score at least 50% marks
(45% for SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled/EWS) to qualify for the interview. The
final selection of the candidate for the Ph.D. admission shall be based on the
overall marks secured by the candidate in the Written test (70%) and Interview
(30%). The successful candidates selected for Ph.D. admission shall be
shortlisted based on the cut-off marks (5% marks can be relaxed for SC/ST/
Persons with Disability (Disability score above 40%) candidates).
4.4 Candidates who
have qualified for a fellowship/scholarship in UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/SLET/INSPIRE/
any other national test notified by UGC/Ministry of Education or hold a Teacher
Fellowship are exempted from Doctoral Program Entrance Test. They must appear
for the interview. Marks obtained in the
national level examination will be used in place of the written examination
conducted by the university.
5. FELLOWSHIP
FOR THE Ph.D. SCHOLARS
Candidates who
clear the National Eligibility Tests can activate and avail the fellowships
from their respective funding agencies. MNR University will facilitate
activation of fellowships in coordination with the funding agencies.
Other candidates
who qualify the MNR University entrance test, and interview and are admitted to
the Ph.D. program will be provided fellowship by the MNR University as listed
below

8. ATTENTION
TO THE CANDIDATES AND SUPERVISORS
8.1. Candidates
seeking admission under part-time mode category should submit No Objection
Certificate (NOC) in the prescribed format available along with the application
form.
8.2. Candidates
are advised to choose recognised supervisors from recognised Schools only (List
of recognized supervisors can be obtained from the website)
8.3. Supervisors
working in recognized Nationalized Laboratories situated within Telangana shall
also may function as Supervisor. However, a recognized supervisor from
University Schools is mandatory to act as Joint Supervisor to take care of the
administrative and research responsibilities of the scholar.
8.4. Faculty
members with less than three years of service before superannuation shall not
be allowed to take new research scholars under their supervision. However, such
faculty members can continue to supervise Ph.D. scholars who are already
registered until superannuation and as a co-supervisor after superannuation,
but not after attaining the age of 70 years.
8.5. As per UGC regulations 2022, the maximum no. of scholars permissible for guidance under a Supervisor / Joint Supervisor at any given point in time is restricted based on the designation of the Supervisor / Joint Supervisor, which is given as follows:

8.6. A
MAXIMUM OF 4 CANDIDATES SHALL ONLY BE ALLOWED TO REGISTER WITH A SUPERVISOR IN
ANY ONE SESSION.
8.7. The
Research scholars will be governed by the Ph.D. Regulations 2026 of this
University.
