The JNU has openings for faculty positions for Indian Nationals & Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) at the level of Professor, Associate Professor and
Assistant Professor in the areas of Specialisation as indicated against each respective position.

Essential Educational Qualifications
1. M.Sc./M.Tech. in Structural Biology / Biophysics / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Molecular Biology
/ Life Sciences / Chemical Sciences / Computational Biology / Physics (with Biophysics) or allied
disciplines with specialization in Structural Biology.
2. Ph.D. in Structural Biology or a closely related interdisciplinary area.
3. A minimum of ten (10) research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-CARE listed journals.
4. A minimum of ten (10) years of teaching experience in University/College as Assistant
Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and/or research experience at equivalent level at the
University/National Level Institutions.
5. Evidence of academic leadership and securing sponsored research projects.
Area of Specialization / Research
Expertise Required
The candidate must have demonstrated research excellence in Structural Biology, with strong evidence of
independent research and laboratory establishment in one or more of the following areas:
X-ray Crystallography, Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM),Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)
Spectroscopy,Protein Structure Determination and Dynamics, Structure-Function Relationships of
Biomolecules, Structural Enzymology, Protein Engineering and Design, Integrative/Hybrid Structural
Biology Approaches, Structural Basis of Disease and Drug Discovery
Teaching Responsibilities (As per NEP-2020 framework)
The faculty member shall:
Teach core and elective courses in Structural Biology, Biophysics, Advanced Molecular Biology,
Protein Chemistry, and related interdisciplinary subjects at PG, and Ph.D. levels.
Develop multidisciplinary courses aligned with NEP-2020 such as Structural Bioinformatics, Drug
Design, Integrative Biology, and Research Methodology.
Establish advanced laboratory modules and skill-based training programs.
Supervise M.Sc., Ph.D., and Post-Doctoral scholars.
Contribute to curriculum design under multidisciplinary and research-intensive university models

Sciences / Physiology / Zoology / Medical Sciences / Cognitive Sciences or allied disciplines with
specialization in Neuroscience.
2. Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a closely related interdisciplinary area.
3. A minimum of ten (10) research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-CARE listed journals.
4. A minimum of ten (10) years of teaching experience in University/College as Assistant
Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and/or research experience at equivalent level at the
University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate(s).
5. Evidence of securing sponsored research projects and academic leadership.
Area of Specialization / Research Expertise Required: The candidate must have demonstrated research
expertise in Experimental Neuroscience, with strong evidence of independent research and laboratory
establishment in one or more of the following domains:
Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience, Systems and Circuit Neuroscience, Neurophysiology,
Neurodevelopment, Neurodegeneration, Neuroinflammation, Cognitive Neuroscience,
Electrophysiology (in vivo / in vitro), Neuroimaging, Translational Neuroscience Teaching
Responsibilities (As per NEP-2020 framework)
The faculty member shall:
Teach core and elective courses in Neuroscience at PG, and Ph.D. levels.
Contribute to interdisciplinary teaching aligned with NEP-2020.
Develop skill-based laboratory modules and research methodology courses.
Supervise M.Sc., Ph.D., and Post-Doctoral scholars.

model.

Ph.D. in any area of Natural Sciences/Computer Science with specialization in any branch of
Computational & Integrative Sciences, relevant to the teaching programs of the School, and preferably in
Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Chemoinformatics, High-throughput Biological Data Analysis.
Desirable:
Candidates must have demonstrated capabilities and experience quantifiable in terms of teaching, high
quality publications (at least 10 high quality original research publications (not review papers) either as
first author or corresponding author during the past 15 years.
A short research proposal on the future research plan.
Screening Committee can set additional criteria for shortlisting based on quality and no. of applicants.
