Ph.D. Entrance Test - 2026
Ph.D. Entrance Test under Category-II seeking admission into Ph.D. programmes offered by
Osmania University in different subjects in the Faculties of Arts, Oriental Languages, Social
Sciences, Commerce, Education, Law, Management, Science, Engineering, Pharmacy,
Technology and Informatics. A list of subjects in which the Ph.D. Entrance Test - 2026 will be
conducted is given in Annexure-I.
1. Eligibility Conditions:
To be eligible to appear for Ph.D. Entrance Test - 2026 conducted by Osmania University in the
subjects pertaining to faculties mentioned above, a candidate must have obtained a PostGraduate degree from a recognized university or a Post-Graduate degree through distance
mode from a recognized university and approved by the concerned authority, in the concerned
subject or in an allied subject (see Annexure-II for the list of allied subjects) approved by
Osmania University securing not less than 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC / ST / BC /
PWD / EWS candidates). If the results of Post Graduate Degree are declared in the form of
Grades/Credits/Cumulative Grade Points/Average in their marks card/Transcripts, such
Grades/Points shall be converted into percentage of marks to assess the minimum eligibility
criteria.
The candidates have to appear in the Ph.D. Entrance Test in the subject in which they wish to
pursue Ph.D. (For e.g. A candidate with M.Com. qualification may pursue Ph.D. in Business
Management provided he/she appears and qualifies in the Ph.D.
Entrance Test in the subject
of Business Management).
Those who are awarded Junior Research Fellowship in a national level test namely UGC/
CSIR/ ICMR / ICAR / DBT/ INSPIRE/NFSC & ST and not secured admission into Ph.D.
programme under category-I and the candidates who qualified under “UGC NET / UGC NET for
Ph.D. admission only” are eligible to write Ph.D. Entrance Test – 2026, if they are intended to
seek admission under Category-II.
Note:
i. The eligibility of the candidates is not being verified at the time of application and or
at the time of issuing of hall tickets. Therefore, it is the candidate’s responsibility to
ensure that he/she is eligible for the Ph.D. programme in a subject in which he/she
is applying.
ii. The candidates those who are pursuing Post Graduate degree and whose
results are not declared are NOT ELIGIBLE.
2. Test Pattern & the Medium of the Test:
The Entrance examination is conducted through Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for
100 marks consist of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ’s). However weightage shall be
considered for 70 marks only.
The Entrance Test will consist of any 3 or 4 varieties of objective type items such as
analogies, classification, matching, comprehension of a research study / experiment /
theoretical point of view, etc., with multiple answers besides the usual multiple
choice items. The MCQs will be framed only from the syllabus of Entrance test.
Medium of Entrance test: The medium of Entrance Test will be in English only,
except for language subjects.
3. Registration Fee:
The Registration fee for online submission of application form is Rs.2,000/- (Rs.1,500/- in case
of SC / ST / BC / PWD / EWS candidates). The procedure for payment of Registration fee is
available in the website: www.ouadmissions.com
4. Syllabus for Entrance Test:
The syllabus of various subjects for Ph.D. Entrance Test will be made available in O.U.
websites, https://www.osmania.ac.in/ and www.ouadmissions.com Candidates may
download the syllabus of the concerned subject from the above websites.
5. Minimum Qualification Marks:
The minimum marks for qualifying the Ph.D. Entrance Test shall be 45% in case of Open
category candidates, 40% for BC / EWS Candidates and 35% for SC / ST / PWD Candidates.
6. The Ph.D. Entrance Test is valid only for one time admission process concerned to the Ph.D.
Admission Notification - 2026.
7. The Hall Tickets along with entrance schedules and necessary instructions will be made
available in OU websites: https://www.osmania.ac.in and www.ouadmissions.com
The
candidates have to download the Hall Tickets and affix the latest passport size photograph
(which is exactly similar to the one uploaded in the Online Application) in the space provided
and get it attested by a Gazetted Officer / Principal of a college/ Head of the Department.
Without the Hall Ticket, the candidate is not allowed to appear for entrance test.
8. The admission to Ph.D. course is subject to the concerned Rules and Regulations of Osmania
University that are in force from time to time. Qualifying in the Ph.D. Entrance Test alone
does not guarantee admission to Ph.D. programme. The admission is subject to
availability of vacancies with the research supervisors in the concerned department, the
candidate’s academic record, the performance of the candidate in the Ph.D. admission
interview and the State Govt. reservation policy. For further details regarding the Ph.D.
admissions in Osmania University and other Rules and Regulations, the candidates are
advised to visit the OU Website, https://www.osmania.ac.in
9. The University invites applications separately for admission to Ph.D. Programmes through its
website and press notification after the declaration of the Ph. D. Entrance Test results.
NOTE:
After conducting the OU Ph.D. online entrance test, the Question Paper & Key for all
subjects will be available in websites:- www.osmania.ac.in & www.ouadmissions.com
for inviting Objections / Queries.
For each objection/ Query an amount of Rs. 200/- has to be paid through online mode only.
If the Objection / Question which raised is found correct, the paid amount will be refunded
within the seven (07) working days.
After stipulated time, the Question Paper & Key, will be removed from the websites.
