Recruitment for the post of “Junior Research Fellow” under MoEFCC- funded project Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati is a premier autonomous Institution established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, for the promotion of high-quality science education and research in the country. The institute invites applications from Indian nationals for the following position purely on a contract basis: 

Name of the project Bird Theme - Long Term Ecological Observatory 

Description Bioacoustics to conduct long-term ecological monitoring for bird populations to understand the biophysical and anthropogenic drivers of ecosystem change and their effect on socio-ecological responses in various landscapes across India. This role will also include project administration duties.

Minimum Qualifications 

Essential: 

1. Master degree in Biology/Life Sciences or any equivalent discipline with minimum of 55% marks.

2. Applicant should qualify the CSIR-UGC NET/GATE or any National Level Test conducted by Central Govt. Depts. and their agencies. 

Desirable: 

● Candidates with a valid 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler driving license and experience 

● Experience conducting fieldwork for over one year 

● Experience with bird song and call identification (will be assessed at interview) 

● Experience with recording bird songs and analysis 

● Experience in handling bird population data, and survey equipment 

● Experience in analysis in Raven Pro and BirdNET 

● Experience with bird handling and ringing techniques 

Fellowship INR 37,000/- + 10% HRA per month (Consolidated) 

Age Not more than 50 years as on the closing date of the advertisement. No. of post One (1) Tenure The initial offer will be for 12 months and renewable subject to satisfactory performance. The position is temporary and co terminus with the project.
