Course Content:

The training will focus upon the advances in the knowledge of medicinal and aromatic plants cultivation and utilization. The course will cover recent advances in medicinal and aromatic plants including production, protection, crop improvement, biotechnology and chemistry. In addition there will be practical aspects on extraction and analysis of active
principles and analysis of quality of medicinal plants. An educational tour to different organizations, institutes, botanical gardens, forest departments, progressive farmers' field on various aspects of MAPs depending upon the availability of time will also be organized during this training programme. This training programme of 21 days will elaborate upon both theory and practical of the following major aspects of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs).

• Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP) principles
• Organic farming in MAPs
• MAPs based cropping systems
• Crop improvement of MAPs for improved yield and quality
• Recent advances in Biotechnology of MAPs
• Extraction and analysis of chemical constituents of MAPs using various techniques
• Pre and post harvest management and value addition in MAPs
• Estimation of pesticide residues in MAPs
• Valorization of wastes of MAPs
• Recent advances in neutraceuticals
• Micro and Nano emulsion formulations of bio-active principles
• Integrated pest management in MAPs
• Marketing and supply chain of MAPs
• Quality control & Certification of MAPs

Eligibility: Applicant should be a post graduate in Agricultural Sciences viz., Horticulture/ Agronomy/Soil Science/Genetics/Breeding/Biotechnology/Organic  Chemistry/ Microbiology/Pathology/Entomology/Plant Physiology or any other related
discipline working in the cadre of Scientist (Asst.Professor)/Senior Scientist (Assoc. Professor )/Principal Scientist(Professor) or in any other equivalent position in any of the ICAR Institutes / State Agricultural Universities / Central Agricultural Universities and Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
