ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

One of the exercises which different universities, research institutes and even government agencies undertake is the road map for the group, division or for the institute. This is the first step for the overall predictions in the subject area to answer a popular question What will be the major research area which can impact mankind after 10 years?

In Biology, some of the predictions for 2025 are:

Growing more than our farming future: No more food shortage ····

Proteins to plastics: Chemistry as a dynamic discipline

Blue economy for marine nations like India

Human healthcare : Type I diabetes is preventable, cancer treatments without side effects, dementia declines and disease risk can be managed at birth by DNA mapping

Microbiology with single bacterial or fungal cell and synthetic cell·

So on and so forth.....

A one day State-level workshop on Insights in Biology 2025 is being organized by Maharashtra Academy of Sciences on October 29, 2015. The experts from different fields would share their views regarding status of some of the above research areas as well as their respective research areas by 2025. One of the important features of the workshop is that the participants will get the opportunity to express their views and share their predictions with audience in the form of poster. This would generate new avenues for research in Biology.
