PhD Biotechnology Positions 2016 – Delhi Technological University

Applications are invited from candidates for admission to the PhD Program (2016) of Delhi Technological University in the field of Biotechnology.

Minimum Qualifications:

(A) First class (60% or equivalent grade) M.Sc. in any branch of Science (e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics etc) or M.Tech in Biotechnology or related field is required.

(B) University will provide fellowship to only 1 candidate of ST category as mentioned in the DTU PhD admissions brochure. However, any number of applicants who have cleared any one of following examination: CSIR-UGC, ICMR, DBT (I), DST-INSPIRE, BINC or any other equivalent JRF examination with fellowships valid for at least four years can also apply.

Selection procedure:

(a) The short-listing of applications for the purpose of screening test & interview will be done by the Ph.D. coordinator nominated by the Vice-Chancellor.

(b) Written test will be of 60 marks having 60 questions from entire spectrum of the department syllabus and 1.5 hours duration along with interview weightage of 40 marks. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of 100 marks.

(c) The short listing of candidates for interviews will be done on the basis of following criteria:

(i) General/OBC category candidates: Minimum 30% Marks in the written test or five times the available seats in the respective category, whichever is higher.

(ii) SC/ST category candidates: Minimum 20% Marks in the written test or five times the available seats in the respective category, whichever is higher.

(c) Those candidates, who are having a valid CSIR/ DBT/ NET (JRF) or any other Govt. fellowship will be exempted from written test. For all such candidates who are exempted from appearing in written test, the merit list will be prepared on the basis interview marks only.

(d) The interview shall be conducted by a committee comprising of Vice-Chancellor, Chairman, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dean Academic (PG) and Ph. D coordinator as common members along with the members of respective DRCs.

(e) Any change in category of candidates will not be entertained; hence they will be selected in the category in which they have applied.

(f) Candidate appearing in the qualifying exams must ensure that their final results (with requisite marks) are declared before the date of Interview.
