Applications are invited for the following purely project/contractual-based positions. The candidate with adequate qualification may appear for Walk-In-Interview on 22 August, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. onward at Kosi-Katarmal (Almora) campus of the Institute. Sl. No. -01- Environmental Information System (ENVIS) Centre on Himalayan Ecology of the Institute

Position Programme Officer (01 No.)

Emoluments @ 31,260/- fixed p.m.

Age* Maximum 45 Years

Eligibility 1 st class M.Sc. in Life Sciences along with good computer knowledge and 3 years experience

Desirable Ph.D or working for Ph.D. and Knowledge of document preparation

Sl. No. –05: NMHS-Indian Himalayan Timberline project (IHTP) Project Title: Timberline and Altitudinal Gradient Ecology of Himalayas, and Human Use Sustenance in a Warming Climate"

Position Junior Project Fellow (02 Nos.)

Emoluments Rs. 16,000/- p.m. for first 2 years and Rs. 18,000 pm for 3rd years + HRA @10%

Age* Maximum 28 Years

Eligibility Ist class Master degree in Botany/Forestry/Environmental Sciences/Computer Science WITH PG Diploma in RS & GIS Or Ist class Masters degree in RS & GIS WITH Bachelors Degree having any of the following subject at bachelor degree level BOTANY/FORESTRY/GEOGRAPHY

Desirable  Vegetation Classification & Mapping Experience  Knowledge of Computer Programming Language Nature of Duties Undertake extensive fieldwork in high altitude and snow clad areas of Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Sikkim states and conduct field research experimentation and surveys.

Sl. No. –07: DST-NMSHE Task Force-3 funded project Title: Forest Resource and Plant Biodiversity

Position Junior Research Fellow (01 No.)

Emoluments** @ Rs. 12,000/ Month +HRA @ Rs. 16,000/- pm + HRA for NET/GATE qualified Age* Maximum 28 Years

Eligibility First Class Masters degree in Botany/Forestry/ Environmental Sciences/ Biodiversity/Remote Sensing & GIS Nature of Duties & Responsibilities Field Research, data base development, data analysis and report writing/presentation Desirable Physically fit to work in the Himalayan Mountains and experience of working in the region

Sl. No. –08: ICIMOD funded project Title: Kailash Sacred Landscape Conservation and Development Initiative (KSLCDI)

Position Researcher Level-II (RL-II) – 01

No. Emoluments @ Rs 18,000/Month fixed; In case of candidates with doctoral degree in relevant subject @ Rs. 22,000/ month fixed] Age Maximum 35 Years

Eligibility First Class Masters degree in Life (zoology/botany/forestry/biodiversity/Environmental Sciences/ and with consistently good academic records.

Nature of Duties & Responsibilities  Conduct extensive field R&D activities; generate, analysis and synthesis of field data/ information; report preparation and timely submission 

Data collection compilation/ analysis and synthesis

Desirable  2 years working experience (R&D) in areas of forest/grassland ecology/ ecosystem services/ resource assessment /plant-animal interaction/ pollination Ecology.  Publications in peer reviewed journals  Good communication skills and computer knowledge

Sl. No. –09: Uttarakhand Council of Biotechnology funded project Title: Quality plants production and promotion of cultivation of selected Himalayan medicinal plants for livelihood enhancement

Position Junior Research Fellow (01 No.)

Initially for one year Emoluments @ Rs. 12,000/ Per Month +HRA as per Institute norms Age Maximum 28 Years

Eligibility  First Class Masters degree in Botany/Biotechnology/Biochemistry 

Preference will be given to candidate with working experience in Himalayan region Job description and preference 

Conduct intensive research in remote high altitude areas 

Experience of tissue culture, biochemical and phytochemical analysis
