The Laboratory Animal Medicine unit was commissioned in 1973 with the objective of breeding, maintenance and supply of quality research animals. The unit is modernised with sophisticated instruments such as HVAC system, barrier housing and dual corridor Class100000 clean room facility for maintaining the micro and macro environmental conditions for laboratory animals. This unit is now functioning under the Directorate of Centre for Animal Health Studies, TANUVAS and is committed to produce quality laboratory animals to cater the needs of researchers.
 
To address the shortage of expertise in conducting animal studies, LAM unit is offering training programs to all categories of personnel involved in laboratory animal management and research such as animal keepers, research scholars and scientists. In this connection, LAM unit will be conducting a three day Training programme on ‘Laboratory Animal Management and Handling for research scholars’ at Laboratory Animal Medicine Unit (LAM), Madhavaram Milk Colony, TANUVAS, Chennai 600051 from 01.02.2017 to 03.02.2017, at Madhavaram Milk Colony, Chennai 600051
 
Postgraduate students and Doctoral research scholars involved in animal based experiments are eligible to apply. The training will include lectures, visit to facility, case studies and hands-on practical sessions. The number of candidates per training batch will be restricted to 12.
 
Candidates will have to make their own arrangements for stay, transport and lunch. Tea and snacks will be provided on the days of training.
