Junior Research Fellowship - 2017 at Sri Devaraj URS Academy of Higher Education and Research
Introduction
Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research has introduced junior research fellowship (JRF) to augment multidisciplinary research activities particularly in the clinical departments of the teaching hospital and the state-of-the art new Central Research Facility. The university has created adequate facilities to carry out advanced research in the areas of molecular genetics, cell biology, molecular basis of diseases, clinical investigations, epidemiology etc. The JRF shall involve in the research projects of the departments and will have the opportunity to enroll for Ph.D. program offered by the University.
Number of Fellowships
Total member of fellowship available for the year 2017 is Ten (10)
Duration and Fellowship value
The fellowship amount payable shall be Rs.20,000/- per month for the 1st year and the duration of the fellowship will be 3 years. However, the selected candidates shall be eligible for higher fellowship amount of Rs 25,000/- per month in the 2nd year and Rs.30,000/- per month in the 3rd year from second year onwards based on the appraisal on the work performance. The eligibility for receipt of such higher fellowship will be decided by a review committee and the decision of the committee shall be final. However the candidate shall continue to receive the fellowship offered in the first year for 2nd and 3rd year based on the recommendation of Principal Investigator of the project. The JRF scheme is extendable based on the need and performance by one more year and during the 4th year the fellowship amount will be the same as that in the 3rd year.
Eligibility
The applicants should be postgraduate degree holders in Life science stream or equivalent with 60% and above in aggregate in the university examination. However for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, the eligibility shall be 55%. The upper age limit of the applicants for fellowship award will be 26 years. M.Sc. degree holders in Basic Medical Science under the Faculty of Medicine are also eligible for the Fellowship.
Selection
The process of selection involves an entrance examination and interview. All eligible candidates have to appear for an entrance examination and shall have to qualify in the examination with 50% marks to be called for interview. The selection will be based on inter se merit in the entrance examination and the performance in the interview as assessed by the committee. However the decision of the Selection Committee will be final.
Reporting /Admission
The selected candidate will be given Letter of Award of fellowship which shall have the details on the duration, fellowship amount / value, the project name and the Principal Investigator to whom he / she shall be reporting for research work and other relevant terms and conditions.
