DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance (IA) invites applications from suitably qualified persons to support its growing needs as a consultant

 Organization Overview:

DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance is a Public Charitable Trust registered in India since 2008. It is funded by the Wellcome Trust, UK and Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, with the broad aim of building excellence in biomedical research in India by selecting and supporting future leaders in the field. IA has recently started Phase 2 (2019-24) with expanded operations to include Team Science Grants, Clinical Research Centres and allied activities. In addition to its research Fellowships and Grants, India Alliance supports an integrated research ecosystem that values ethics, good management and the public communication of science to enhance knowledge and drive policy. Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Guide and manage the IA Fellowships or Grants teams.
  • Guiding, managing, and coordinating the IA Fellowship or Grants programme. 
  • Manage and Monitor the quality of work performed by the Grants Advisers in relation to the application and award portfolio.
  • Develop and manage a training and skills development programme for the Grants Advisers to ensure that their competencies meet the needs of the IA.
  • Work with various stakeholders in the smooth conduct of award selections
  • Organize feedback from Fellows, Reviewers, and Committee Members, as and when required

The person should have the following skills –

Essential:

  • Ph.D. in Life Science/Biological Sciences/similar areas
  • Good knowledge of the science, research and policy ecosystem in India, and the larger international context
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Good time management skills and able to work under strict deadlines
  • A minimum of 5 years experience of working in the not-for-profit sector, especially with funding agencies.

 Desirable: 

  • Experience in managing large programs both independently and as a member of a cohesive team, preferably within the settings of a research funding organisation or an academic institution. 
  • People Management Experience

Compensation:

The remuneration will be based on qualifications and experience in the range of 1 to 1.5 lakhs per month.  The payment for the duration of the contract will be subject to applicable TDS and will be treated as fee under contract. The engagement will not be considered as an agreement for employment.
