Advertisement for engaging Project Personnel on Contractual basis at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun The Wildlife Institute of India is an internationally acclaimed Institution, which offers training program for government and nongovernment personnel, academic courses and advisory in wildlife research and management. The Institute is actively engaged in research across the breadth of the country on biodiversity related issues. 

The Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun invites application forms for engaging the various Project Personnel under the following projects and their EQ, DQ, age, monthly emolument and other details of the Project Personnel are indicated against each post. 

A. Project titled “Conserving Vital Connections Across Expanding Linear Infrastructure in a Transboundary Terai Arc” in India and Nepal. Field Sites: Forest areas of Terai Arc landscape in India and Nepal.

1. Project Scientist I (Ecology) One 

Essential Qualification: (i) Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks. Minimum eight (08) years of research experience in relevant field after Masters’ degree is required. Publications in peer-reviewed journals in relevant field. 

Desirable qualification (DQ): Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated experience/ aptitude in a) study design, field work, data collection, statistical analysis and scientific writing, d) coordination of multi-disciplinary project team and field data collection, d) GIS experience e) research publications in peer-reviewed national/ international journals.

Rs.56,000 + HRA 

2. Project Associate I Two (One position each for Indian and Nepalese nationals) 

Essential Qualification: Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences, GIS and Geoinformatics 

Desirable qualification (DQ): preferred experience/ aptitude in a) Animal ecology, field surveys, data collection through basic field techniques viz., camera trapping, animal sign surveys, distance sampling, basic data analysis, b) basic knowledge of statistical and GIS software c) research publications in peer-reviewed national/ international journals.

B. Project titled “Assessment of fine-scale spatial and temporal use of key wildlife species in relation to ecological resources and suggest mitigation plan to ameliorate impacts due to upgradation of Harrawala railway station, extension/additional loop line for handling 24 coaches at enroute stations and increase of train speed to 100km/hr along Dehradun-Haridwar railway line passing through Dehradun Forest Division and Rajaji Tiger Reserve, Uttarakhand” 

Field Sites: Forest areas of around Dehradun and Haridwar 

1. Project Scientist II (Ecologist) OR Project Scientist I (Ecologist) One 

Essential Qualification: (i) Doctoral Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences from a recognized University, (ii) Minimum three (03) years relevant experience post PhD. 

Essential Qualification: Doctoral Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences from a recognized University. Desirable qualification (DQ): Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated experience/ aptitude in a) spatial analysis and ecological modelling, b) statistical analysis, c) project design and coordination of multi-disciplinary project team and field data collection c) research publications in peer-reviewed national/ international journals.

2. Project Associate I Six (Wildlife ecology, Plant Ecology, and Remote Sensing and GIS) 

Essential Qualification: Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences 

Desirable qualification (DQ): Demonstrated experience/ aptitude in a) Animal and Plant ecology; vegetation quantification, environment pollutant analysis; survey methodology and data analysis, spatial analysis and ecological modelling, b) statistical analysis, c) project design and coordination of multi-disciplinary project team and field data collection c) research publications in peer-reviewed national/ international journals

Desirable qualification (DQ): Demonstrated experience/ aptitude in a) Animal and Plant ecology; vegetation quantification, environment pollutant analysis; survey methodology and data analysis, spatial analysis and ecological modelling, b) statistical analysis, c) project design and coordination of multi-disciplinary project team and field data collection c) research publications in peer-reviewed national/ international journals

4. Cumulative Environment Impact Assessment on wildlife habitat and ecological values due to proposed doubling of railway track from Tinaighat to Kulem in the northern Western Ghats” Field Sites: Forest areas of States of Goa and Karnataka in northern Western Ghats 

1. Project Associate II (Genetics) One 

Essential Qualification: (i) Master’s Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences/Animal Genetics/Biotechnology from a recognized University, (ii) Minimum two (02) years relevant experience. 

Desirable qualification (DQ): Demonstrated experience/ aptitude in a) Wildlife genetics, DNA extraction, PCR, genetic data analysis software, knowledge of GIS, Statistics, report writing

2. Senior Project Associate One (Wildlife Ecology) 

Essential Qualification: (i) Master’s Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences from a recognized University, (ii) Minimum four (04) years relevant experience. OR 

(i) Doctoral Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences from a recognized University, with relevant experience.

Senior Research Fellow One 

Essential Qualification: Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences and two years of experience in relevant field 

Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated experience/ aptitude in a) spatial analysis and ecological modelling, b) statistical analysis, c) project design and coordination of multi-disciplinary project team and field data collection c) research publications in peer-reviewed national/ international journals.
