Recruitment of Temporary Positions for the R&D projects at CSIR-NIO, GOA 

CSIR – National Institute of Oceanography, a constituent national laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research Institute (CSIR), invites applications from eligible candidates for recruitment of the following project staff, purely on a temporary contractual basis to carry out research work on the R&D project and to be engaged in NIO Head Quarters, Goa. 

01 Marine Biodiversity assessment along the proposed developmental sites at Dighi Port, Maharashtra

Initial Tenure: 2 Months 

Project Associate-I - 2 Posts 

Essential Qualification: M.Sc Zoology/ Marine Biology/ Environmental Science 

Desirable Qualification & Job Requirement Relevant research in benthic sample collection, taxonomic analysis, mangroves sampling and identification. 

Candidates with NET/SET/GATE are also preferable.The selected candidate must be an excellent team worker and will be required to participate in field activities on boat, carry out work on biological sample collection and surveys. 

Also, to assist in laboratory analysis, processing of data and prepare reports, presentations related to projects.

Project Associate-I 

Essential Qualification: M.Sc Microbiology / Marine Biotechnology 

Desirable Qualification & Job Requirement Experience in analyses of marine microbial samples, microbiological techniques, collection and preservation of marine samples for microbiological observations.To assist the scientists in laboratory and field for sample collection, processing and analysis. 

The selected candidate will be required to undertake extensive field work on board oceanographic vessels and boats

Project Associate-I 

Essential Qualification: M.Sc Biochemistry/Microbiology 

Desirable Qualification & Job Requirement Research experience in microalgal isolation and identification, culturing as well as extraction and purification of pigments using chromatographic techniques. The candidates with prior experience in the above fields will be preferred.The candidate is expected to perform the laboratory as well as field research experiments, pigment analysis using HPLC, mass culturing of selected microalgae, maintain accurate data, perform critical data analyses, prepare/make presentations etc. The specific assignments may include but would not be restricted to participation in ocean cruises and field sample collection.

Initial Tenure: 4 Months Senior Project Associate 

Essential Qualification: M.Sc. in Microbiology or equivalent with minimum 4 years of research experience in the relevant field. 

Desirable Qualification & Job Requirement Skilled in basic Microbiology techniques. Handling and operation of Analytical and Molecular biology Instruments such as HPLC and RTPCR.The selected candidate will be required to assist the Project Leader in conducting skill training for graduates and post graduate students

Desirable Qualification & Job Requirement Work experience on the macroalgae associated microbes, field experience for collection of seawater samples and Biotechnological aspects with good hands on experience with Laboratory skills.For seaweed diversity analysis and cultivation along Maharashtra Goa and Karnataka coast, to interact with local fishermen community and initiate feasibility studies in coastal regions.

Desirable Qualification & Job Requirement Should have experience in molecular biology techniques and Bioinformatics programming using phython. Research experience in field benthic sample collection. Molecular taxonomical identification of mega and macro fauna.The selected candidate must be an excellent team worker and will be required to participate in field activities on boat, carry out work on biological sample collection and surveys. Also, to assist in laboratory analysis, processing of data and prepare reports and any other assignments for the fulfillment of project work.

13 Survey and documentation of rocky intertidal seaweed diversity, and identification of potential seaweed with nutritional property
