Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up purely temporary positions of one Project
Associate-II in the DBT Multi-institutional project entitled “Characterization of chickpea germplasm resource
to accelerate genomics-assisted crop improvement”, under mission programme of “Characterization of genetic
resources”, and one Junior Research Fellow in the NIPGR Short Term Fellowship Scheme under the
supervision of Dr. Senjuti Sinharoy, Scientist, NIPGR. The details are as under:
Project Associate-II (One Post):
Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms & as sanctioned in the project.
Upper age limit: 35 years.
Qualification: Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number
SR/S9/Z-07/2020 dated 25/08/2020 and having Master’s degree (Biological Sciences) with at least 60% (in
master degree) or equivalent with two years post-masters degree experience are eligible to apply. The candidate
is required to have working experience in RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis. qRT-PCR analysis and mutant
screening through PCR genotyping, CRISPR mediated mutant generation with legume plants, and in-depth
knowledge in map-based cloning.
Prior work experience in the field of root nodule symbiosis will be given
preference.
The successful candidate is expected to work on Chickpea root nodule symbiosis screening and understanding
the molecular mechanism behind different nitrogen fixation efficiency by different chickpea varieties.

Junior Research Fellow (One Post):
Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms.
Qualification: Candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests as mentioned in the DST Office
Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019, and having Master’s degree in
Biotechnology/Microbiology/Life Sciences with at least 70 % (or equivalent) marks are eligible to apply.
Candidate with experience of working with molecular biology techniques and or histochemical analysis etc will
be given preference. Also, knowledge on root nodule symbiosis and lipid signalling is desirable.

The positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for one
year, for both the positions, which can be extended / curtailed on the basis of assessment of the candidate’s
performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate
against the above posts depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts
shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The appointment may be terminated any time by giving one month notice
by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position
of NIPGR.

Candidates need to apply by filling up the necessary information in the given google forms within 15 days from
the date of advertisement. Candidates applying with incomplete information will not be considered for an
interview. Additionally, the candidate must use exactly the same name in the Google form as it is in the
Certificate and application. Only Shortlisted candidates will be called for an online interview. A web interview
will be conducted. A link with the date and time of the online interview will be e-mailed to the shortlisted
candidates. The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be
interviewed. Canvassing in any form or bringing influence, political or otherwise, will lead to the disqualification
of the candidate(s).
