WALK - IN - INTERVIEW FOR
POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW IN STEM CELL RESEARCH AT ACTREC
Applications are invited from highly motivated and skilled Post-doctoral Research Fellow to join our
cutting-edge cancer research team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to
pioneering research in the field of cancer biology, with a particular focus on stem cell research and animal
models of cancer at ACTREC. The applicant must have obtained a PhD degree from a recognized
University. Those who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting the award of the degree are also
eligible to apply. However, if selected, such candidates will be offered a fellowship equivalent to a Senior
Research Fellow until they obtain their degree. The position is for 2 years.
The upper age limit for the fellowship is 35 years at the time of applying. Age will be calculated by taking
the last date of application. Age relaxation of five years will be given to candidates from
SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged & Women candidates. For other exceptional candidates, age will be
relaxed based on the discretion of the competent authority. Since this fellowship is meant to bring in
the best of candidates outside of ACTREC so that the faculty and the fellow mutually benefit from new
expertise and a fresh perspective, the following conditions apply for the internal candidates:
At the time of application, candidates who have graduated from ACTREC should not have completed
more than six months after the award of the degree. Candidates who have graduated elsewhere and
are working in any of the labs at ACTREC should not have been associated with the lab for more than
six months at the time of application. In either of these cases, the fellowship will be awarded strictly for
one year, within which time the candidate has to find alternative support. No more than one fellowship
will be awarded under this clause and the candidates will be subjected to the same selection protocol.
Key responsibilities:
Conduct research on stem cells derived from patient samples, focusing on cell differentiation
Design, implement, and analyze experiments using animal models of cancer to study the impact
of various treatments and interventions.
Knowledge on cancers of the haemopoietic lineage
Collaborate closely with clinician colleagues and other investigators to explore novel therapeutic
targets and strategies for cancer treatment.
Prepare and publish research findings in high-impact scientific journals.
Participate in lab meetings, seminars, & contribute to academic development of research group.
Assist in mentoring graduate students and other junior researchers involved in the project.
Essential
Qualifications and Experience:
PhD in Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Stem Cell Research, or a related Field.
Extensive experience with stem cell culture, specifically from patient-derived samples (e.g.
primary tumor cells, patient-derived xenografts, blood and marrow).
Proven experience in the establishment and management of animal models of cancer (including
but not limited to mouse models).
Strong knowledge of blood disorders
Excellent hands-on laboratory skills, including cell culture techniques, molecular biology,
histology, and animal handling.
Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with advanced imaging techniques, flow cytometry and molecular assays.
Knowledge of immunotherapy in cancer cells is a plus.

Consolidated Salary: Fellowship amount and conditions are as per DBT norms. Rs. 73,660/- per month.
(Rs. 58,000/- + 27% HRA) p.m. The work progress of the candidate will be monitored, and extension will
depend on satisfactory progress of the work.
Candidates with provisional certificates and candidates who have cleared the viva voce can apply.
The
letter has to provide an official statement from their Institute confirming the same.
