Invites applications for Summer Training - 2009

Objectives

The aim is to let young minds feel the thrill and excitement of science by working on a project requiring application and critical appreciation of scientific principles.It also aims at active participation in the learning process through experimentation and putting into practice the knowledge acquired in the classrooms. The program gives students an opportunity to gain research experience and work closely with a scientist.

Programme

IICB Summer Training 2009/ Project Work (PW) / Dissertation Work (DW)

Period of training:

March to August 2009 (minimum 2 months maximum 6 months).

Eligibility

  • The Student must be pursuing Postgraduate course from a recognized University/ institute /college in the relevant area.
  • He/ She must have secured at least 60% marks throughout his/ her academic career (From High School onwards).
  • Training should be essential for the candidate’s course curriculum.

[Those who are pursuing undergraduate courses including four years B.Tech programmes are NOT eligible for this Summer Training Programme.]

Guidelines for students

How to apply

  • Application in plain paper mentioning applicant’s name, address for correspondence, e-mail address, phone number are required to be indicated.
  • Bio-Data and academic records of the Student mentioning percentage of marks obtained in different examinations from school final onwards indicating name of the college/University/Institute where studied. (Do not send photo copy of the results)
  • Marks obtained in grade point, if any, is required to be calculated in terms of percentage.
  • Only hard copy of the documents will be accepted.
  • Original Copy of the Recommendation Letter of the Principal/ Registrar /Head of the Institution /University, mentioning the training programme sought is essential for the candidate’s course curriculum.
  • Area(s) in which training is requested is to be mentioned. [Different areas of ongoing Research work can be available at IICB website http://www.iicb.res.in/].
  • Date & Period of ST /PW /DW applied for [Recommendation letter from HOD/Principal must indicate the period of training]
  • Applications are to be sent by post in the following address or may be delivered to the Receiving & Dispatch Section, IICB. The envelope containing the above documents is to be super scribed as SUMMER TRAINING-2009.

When To Apply

Applications for the above training programme-2009 will be received only during the period from 15th September to 15th November 2008.

Selection / Result

After screening the valid applications and subject to availability of accommodation in different scientist’s laboratory, name of the selected candidates will be posted in IICB web site http://www.iicb.res.in/ tentatively in the 3rd week of January 2008.

Training Fees & Accommodation

  • There are no fees or tuition costs associated with participation in the summer training /project work or dissertation.
  • The students have to make their own arrangements for accommodation in Kolkata, if selected.

NOTE:

  • Incomplete and invalid applications in any respect will be summarily rejected & no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
  • Applications received after the closing date will not be entertained on any ground including postal delay. The decisions about the selection will be final and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
  • Application through Email will not be accepted.
