School of Biological Sciences in National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER, Bhubaneswar, Orissa) is seeking two post doctoral research fellows in the areas of (i) Bioinformatics and (ii) Experimental systems biology. Both fellowships will be initially funded by NISER and candidates are expected to apply for their own funding to support their fellowships. Fellowship amount will be commensurable with DAE scale based on post PhD experience.
Eligibility: For both positions fresh Ph.Ds in respective fields from good laboratories with peer reviewed quality publications are preferred. Candidates dedicated to pursue their career in science will be given preference.
Expertise in writing code with proficiency in PERL, JAVA and C++ will be given preference for the bio?informatic candidate. For experimental scientist expertise in proteomic/genomic, NMR, Mass spectrometry and some knowledge in immunology or cell biology will be preferred.
Duration and Fellowship: Each fellowship will be for one year with the possibility of renewal for one more year based on satisfactory progress. Amount of fellowship will be commensurable with experience as given below:

Areas of work: Areas of work will be to understand effects of stress and commensal microbiota on innate immunity and metabolism in disease resistance and susceptibility. Systems biology approach will be attempted to establish the molecular basis of the mechanism of disease susceptibility to enrich the understanding to develop potential prophylactic and therapeutic interventions.
