Walk–in–Interview to Engage Research Fellows at Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun
The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The WII wishes to engage 02 Research Fellows (01-Project Biologist and 01-Senior Research Fellow) under the projects titled “Rapid assessment on biodiversity in the project area of Indira Sagar Multipurpose Irrigation Project, Polavaram, Andhra Pradesh” and “Tracking of migratory Olive Ridley turtles along east coast of India” respectively, through a Walk-in-Interview on Thursday, 20th May 2010. Project # 1 Project title - Rapid assessment on biodiversity in the project area of Indira Sagar Multipurpose Irrigation Project, Polavaram, Andhra Pradesh.
Project Biologist
Duration: Three MonthsEssential QualificationMasters Degree in Marine Biology/Marine Science/Zoology/Life Sciences/ Wildlife Science/Ecology/Environmental Sciences, with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.Desirable QualificationResearch experience in biodiversity assessment and bibliography search. Candidate with fluency in local language (Telugu) will be preferred.Description of WorkField data collection, data interpretation, analysis and report writing.
Project # 2 Project title - Tracking of migratory Olive Ridley turtles along east coast of India.
Senior Research Fellow
Duration: Six MonthsEssential QualificationMasters Degree in Zoology/Life Sciences/Wildlife Science/Ecology/ Environmental Sciences/Marine Biology, with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.Desirable QualificationFour to five years research experiences in coastal and marine protected area assessment and bibliography search.Description of WorkField data collection, data interpretation, analysis and report writing.

Candidate for the position of Project Biologist and Senior Research Fellow should not be more than 32 years of age as on 18th May 2010. For the advertised position of Senior Research Fellow, the upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women/physically handicapped categories. -
Selected candidates for the position of Project Biologist and Senior Research Fellow will each be paid consolidated emoluments of Rs. 14,000/- per month. -
Selected candidate(s) may be allowed hostel accommodation at the institute, as per availability. Where the hostel accommodation is not possible, house rent allowance (HRA) will be paid to him/her as per the rules of the Institute subject to the condition that HRA payable, in no case, shall be more than the rates payable to Central Govt./WII Employee(s) in that area. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel would be admissible as per the rules of the Institute, amended from time to time. -
Engagement on the above position will be purely on a temporary basis initially and may be extended for further period depending upon the requirement and the tenure of project. -
The selection of the candidates will be based on Walk-in-Interview to be held on Thursday, 20th May 2010 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. The registration of candidates will begin by 09:00 hrs onwards. -
Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature. -
Candidates should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, extra curricular activities, date of birth etc., along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration. -
Applications without enclosures and/or incomplete in any respect shall be liable to rejection. -
One way travel expenses will be paid to the selected candidates, upon joining the project and producing the proof of journey ‘tickets’. The expense will be limited to actual 2nd class rail/bus fare by the shortest route from his/her place of stay/residence. -
The Institute will not provide accommodation for candidates appearing for the interview. -
