Indo-US Research Career Transition Award Programme (Khorana-Nirenberg Scholars)
The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), M/o Science and Technology, Govt of India signed a Letter of Intent with National Institutes of Health to develop an Indo-US Research Career Transition Award Programme (Khorana-Nirenberg Scholars) to foster collaborative biomedical research and training. The goal of this joint programme is to establish long-term career paths for Indian scientists of exceptional ability and with strong potential for leadership in their field.
The programme has two phases, a period of post-doctoral training (2–3 years) at NIH followed by a research or faculty position (2–3 years) funded by DBT at one of India’s Centres of Scientific Research. The nodal agencies to implement the programme are the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt of India and the HHS National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA.
The DBT invites applications from Indian nationals holding an M.D. or Ph.D. degree awarded since 2005. Upto four Khorana-Nirenberg scholars will be selected for this highly competitive programme.
