ABOUT THE-TRAINING
In order to protect the interest of all stakeholders of livestock, poultry and fishery sectors in India, it is necessary to protect innovations in livestock, poultry and fishery sectors through appropriate IP instruments. The IPR and other legal instruments influencing knowledge intensity of livestock, poultry and fishery sectors access and transfer of livestock genetic resources are complex and have many options. Thus, scientist and policy makers in India face a considerable challenge in formulating and implementing IPR policies influencing research and development in the livestock, poultry and fishery sectors. Recognizing the fact, the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University is offering an NAIP sponsored unique National Training of 10 days of duration on "Intellectual Property Rights- Updates and Applications".
SYLLABUS
• Overview of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
• Indian legislation for the protection of various types of intellectual properties.
• Intellectual property protection and IPR issues in Animal and Fishery Sciences
• Protection of Animal and fishes varieties
• Protection of Geographical Indications
• IP rights over biological resources, biological diversity act.
• Commercialization of IP, Technology Transfer and Licensing
• Administration of IPR in India
• Research Collaboration agreements
PARTICIPANTS
Scientists from Veterinary and Fisheries Faculty working in SAUs and ICAR Institutions. Participants will be paid to and fro travel fare for journey by bus / trains AC II class (except Rajadhani) by shortest route, on production of tickets, for journey from the place of duty to the training location and back and according to TA rules of TANUVAS.
ACCOMMODATION
Free boarding and lodging will be provided in training hostels as per the provisions of NAIP training programme.

DURATION
The training will be organized for a period of 10 days from 18.04.2011 to 27.04.201 1.
