ADMISSION NOTICE 2011
(FOR M.Sc. in Bioinformatics)
The Centre for Bioinformatics Studies: Centre for Bioinformatics Studies, Dibrugarh University in collaboration with RMRC (ICMR), Dibrugarh and NEIST, Jorhat pioneered in North East to establish Masters in Bioinformatics. The teachers, scholars and Scientists from these organizations, are imparting knowledge on Bioinformatics since 2007, July 17th. The Centre is well equipped with Laboratory facilities as well as well furnished class rooms with latest teaching aids.
Why Bioinformatics: A fastest growing subject which aim to solve biological problems at molecular level by data acquisition, data maintenance, development of computational tools for data analysis and data integration. Thus, minimizing expenditure of conventional molecular researches, as well as speeding up the researchers for benefit of mankind through improving agriculture, veterinary, medical science etc.
The Syllabus: The syllabus is designed in a way to equip the students through data acquisition via wet laboratory experiments to analysis for Biologically meaningful information. Further, a project of 6 months the students have to carry out in research organizations /industries of Bioinformatics in any field of Bioinformatics.
Course Duration: 2 Years
Eligibility: Graduates from any recognized University or institute in Biological Sciences, Veterinary Science, Agriculture Science, Medical Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Biotechnology, Engineering or those who have appeared in the final examination of any of these. Further, the Science graduate must have at least two of the subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.( Minimum 45% Marks in Major Course or Minimum 45% Marks in aggregate and 50% Marks in aggregate in case of the graduates completed the general course)
How to apply: Application forms and the Information Brochure can be obtained from the Office of the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Dibrugarh University on payment of Rs 300/-(Rupees three hundred) only at University Counter or by post sending a request letter to Deputy Registrar (Academic), Dibrugarh University,Dibrugarh-786004 accompanied with a DD of Rs 300/- (Rupees three hundred) only drawn in favour of the Registrar,Dibrugarh University payable at SBI, DU Branch(Branch Code: 2051) and a self addressed envelop of A4 size. Forms can also be downloaded from the official web site of Dibrugarh University mentioned below. In case of downloaded form a DD of Rs 300/- (Rupees three hundred) only, payable at the above needed to be attached along with the application form.
Mode of Selection: Admission to this course shall be based upon merit in the qualifying examination.
Intake Capacity:
15 Seats on Merit basis, 3 Endowment and 2 Sponsored. TOTAL = 20
If endowment and sponsored seats remain vacant those will be added to general seats.
