Postgraduate Research Programme in Engineering (PGRPE) 2011-2012


Applications are invited for the two-year full-time residential Post Graduate Research Programme in Engineering in the cutting-edge technological areas.

NCL Pune offers programs in Chemical Engineering : Modeling & Simulation or  Materials & Processes. Candidates are eligible to apply provided they satisfy ALL the conditions (i), (ii) and (ii).

(1) They should have graduated from or be in the final year of an 4-year undergraduate degree program(BE/B Tech etc) in one of the following: Chemical engg/tech, Polymer, Biochemical, Biotechnology, Material Science, Petroleum & Petrochemical  

(ii) they are 2010 graduates, or expect to get their degrees in Summer 2011 AND

(iii) they should have a cumulative score of greater than 70% marks or 7.0/10 CGPA. Note that graduates who have completed their Masters degree, or graduated before 2010, or who do not have a degree in these branches are not eligible to apply.

A valid GATE score is a desirable qualification and may be used as an additional screening criterion.

The programmes are designed to give in-depth exposure and hands-on R&D experience to the candidates in the respective areas. The selected candidate will be designated as Scientist Trainee under QHS scheme and they will be trained on exciting live projects so that they emerge as research ready scientists/engineers for taking up challenging positions. Such candidates shall receive a consolidated emolument of Rs.25000/- p.m. and would also enjoy other benefits as applicable to QHS of CSIR.

PGRPE is a four-semester (2 years) programme. Extension beyond this period for completing the programme will be decided on a case-by-­case basis.

The medium of instruction and examination will be English.
