A Research Assistant position is open in the Integrative Taxonomy and Microbial Ecology Group, Department of Biological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research-Kolkata (IISERK) to conduct research on marine benthic organisms from selected sites along the coastal India as part of an externally funded project. The position is for one year only and the salary will be Rs 14000 per month.
He/She will undertake field work activities for collection of sediment samples, analyse the benthic communities (macro and meiobenthic) present in the sediment samples based on microscopic and imaging techniques.
He/She will also undertake biogeochemical measurements during field survey to gain a better understanding about the role of biogeochemical fluxes in controlling the distribution of benthic organisms.
