Inviting Applications from Assistant Professors/Lecturers to Attend Symposium on ‘Vistas of Life Sciences, Now and Beyond’, to be organized by the School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University.
The School of Life Sciences, JNU was established in 1971–1972. Since its inception, it has evolved into a School of National Eminence in teaching and research in biology.
In celebration of four decades of existence, we are organizing a symposium on ‘Vistas of Life Sciences, Now and Beyond’, to be held on 13–15 February 2014.
Among the participants will be Assistant Professor level teachers invited from various Indian universities. The objective is to give them a first-hand exposure to the unique model of teaching and research in the School of Life Sciences, JNU. Those who are be interested to attend this event are requested to send their application through proper channel to the undersigned by e-mail at skgoswami@mail.jnu.ac.in, followed by a hard copy with the subject heading ‘Four Decades of SLS’.
The last date of submission is 30 October 2013.
Selected candidates will be paid for their travel (train) and stay for attending this symposium (for the period of the conference).
Criteria for selection The applicant must have been teaching any subject in Life Sciences/Biology/Biotechnology for at least five years.
The application should include a brief resume and a write up on ‘Biology teaching in 2025, a model vision’ within approximately 250 words. The content of the write up will be the primary criteria of selection. However, the selectors will try to ensure nationwide representation with a preference for those from the under developed regions of the country. We plan to invite about 25 teachers and the selectors’ decision will be final.
