Walk in interview

A walk-in-Interview will be held in the Institute of Wood Science & Technology, 18th cross, Malleshwaram, Bangalore on 5th November, 2013 at 10.30 AM for the positions of SRF, JRFs and Field Assistants in following research projects funded by the National medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), New Delhi and the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehra Dun.

Project 1: Conservation, improvement and bioresource development of sandal wood (Santalum album L.) (NMPB funded; 2013-16; PI-Dr. Syam Vishwanth)

Position: Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

Qualifications: M.Sc. Life Sciences

Desirable: Minimum 2 years research experience in Plant Tissue culture and Molecular Biology

Project period: 3 years

Fellowship: Rs.14, 000/- + HRA 10%)

Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Qualifications: M.Sc. in Life Sciences/Forestry /Agriculture

Desirable: Aptitude for field work

Project period: 3 years

Fellowship: Rs.12, 000/- + HRA (10%)

Position: Field Assistant

Qualifications: B.Sc. in Forestry / Agriculture / Life Sciences

Desirable: Aptitude for field work

Project period: 3 years

Fellowship: Rs.9, 000/- Consolidated

Project 2: Distribution, assessment and growth of Santalum album L., an important medicinal plant of Karnataka (NMPB funded; 2013-15; PI-Dr. V.P. Tewari)

Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Qualifications: 1st class M.Sc. in Statistics/Forestry (specialization in forest management)/Agriculture statistics

Proficiency in computer applications (including MS-Office) and internet uses Desirable: Good knowledge of use of statistical softwares, data analysis & interpretation

Experience in field survey/work and data collection

Project period: 2 years

Fellowship: Rs.12, 000/- + HRA (10%)

Position: Field Assistant

Qualifications: B.Sc. in Forestry / Agriculture / Science (preferably with statistics/maths)

Desirable: Good knowledge of working on computer and use of internet

Aptitude for field work & data collection

Project period: 2 years

Fellowship: Rs.7, 000/- Consolidated

Project 3: Development of Quasi in-situ conservation and restocking of natural areas of Embelia ribes burm. f - an important endangered medicinal plant species (NMPB funded; 2013-16; PI-Dr. Ashutosh Srivastava)

Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Qualifications: M.Sc. in Botany/Forestry /Agriculture / Biotechnology

Proficiency in computer applications (including MS-Office) and internet uses Desirable: Good knowledge of use of statistical softwares, data analysis & interpretation

Experience in field survey/work and data collection

Project period: 3 years

Fellowship: Rs.12, 000/- + HRA (10%)

Position: Project Assistant

Qualifications: B.Sc. in Forestry / Agriculture / Science

Desirable: Good knowledge of working on computer and use of internet

Aptitude for field work & data collection

Project period: 3 years

Fellowship: Rs.8, 500/- Consolidated

Project no 4: Structure, Diversity and Regeneration Studies in Permanent Preservation Plots in Moist Deciduous and Evergreen Forests of Western Ghats in Karnataka(ICFRE funded; Till March 2014; PI-Dr. Syam Vishwanth)

Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Qualifications: M.Sc. in Forestry / Wood Science / Agriculture / Life Sciences
Desirable: Aptitude for field work in forest areas and data analysis

Project period: 5 months

Fellowship: Rs.12, 000/- + HRA (30%)

The upper age limit for SRF shall be 30 years and for JRFs shall be 28 years; age relaxation to the SC/ST & OBC candidates as per rule. These posts are purely for a temporary engagement on ad-hoc basis co-terminus with the projects. However, it may also be terminated at any time giving a prior notice of one month. This temporary engagement is only project related and will in no way confer any entitlement for claiming a permanent post/appointment in the institute.

All the interested and qualified candidates may walk in for interview on 5th Nov. 2013 at 10.30 AM in the Board Room of the Institute along with their C.V. (giving details of Name, Date of birth, Father’s Name, Permanent and current Address, Educational Qualification from High School/ Higher Secondary onwards with the name of Institution, Year of Passing, Marks obtained, Medium of Study and Research experience) with one passport size colour photograph affixed on it, original mark sheets, certificates, experience certificates etc.
