The following vacancies shall be filled purely on adhoc basis under Non-Institutional adhoc project “Bioinformatics in ICMR Institutes” funded by Indian Council of Medical Research at Vector Control Research Centre, Puducherry, to be renewed annually and filled through Walk-in-Interview as indicated below. Candidates who wish to appear for the Walk-in-Interview can download the application format given in the website of Vector Control Research Centre (www.vcrc.res.in). Duly filled in application along with attested copies of certificate should be submitted at time of interview.

1. Scientist - C (Non-Medical) Number of post – ONE
Essential qualification
B.E./ B. Tech. Degree in Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology from a recognized University with 6 years experience in the relevant field OR
First class Master’s Degree and Ph.D. Degree in Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology from a recognized University OR
First class Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology from a recognized University with 4 years R & D experience in the related subjects as mentioned above OR
Second class Master’s Degree + Ph.D. in Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology from a recognized University with 4 years research experience in bio-medical subjects
Age: Not exceeding 40 years Consolidated Salary – Rs.39,960/- p.m. + HRA as
admissible
Desirable qualification (i) Post-doctorate in Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology or M.E. / M. Tech. Degree in Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology from a recognized University for candidates with First Class relevant degree.
(ii) Additional post-doctoral research / teaching experience in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology in recognized Institute(s).
(iii) Knowledge of computer applications or data management
Job requirements i) To apply Bioinformatics / Computational Biology tools in understanding interactions between vectors and parasites/ pathogens and target based development of drug / insecticides.
ii) To assist the investigators to carry out genomic studies on parasites/pathogens/vectors of vector borne diseases
2. Scientist B (Non-Medical) Number of Posts – ONE
Essential qualification B.E.,/ B.Tech Degree in Computer Science from a recognized University with two years experience OR
First Class M.Sc. Degree in Computer Science/ Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A.) from a recognized University OR
Second Class M.Sc. + Ph.D. Degree in Computer Science/ Second Class M.C.A. + Ph.D. Degree in Computer
Applications from a recognized University Age: Not exceeding 35 years Consolidated Salary – Rs.37,800/- p.m. + HRA as admissible
Desirable qualification i. Doctorate or M.E./M.Tech. Degree in Computer Science / Computer Applications from a recognized University for candidates with First Class Degree ii. Post-doctoral research / Teaching in Computer Science / Computer Applications in recognized Institute(s)
iii. Experience of web-based applications, knowledge of statistical tools / data management
iv. Two years R & D / Teaching experience in Computer Science/ Computer applications after obtaining the essential qualification
Job requirements i. To assist the investigators in data management of the research programmes on vector borne diseases, drug/ insecticide development
ii. To assist the investigators in genomic studies on parasites / pathogens / vectors of vector borne diseases
3. Technical Assistant (Research Assistant)
Number of post – ONE
Essential qualification Three years Bachelor Degree in Life Science from a recognized University with a Diploma / Certificate Course in Medical Laboratory Technology of one year duration or one year experience in the lower scale
Age: Not exceeding 30 years Consolidated Salary – Rs. 24,300/- p.m.
Job requirements i) To assist in collection / retrieval of data from various data banks pertaining to genome / molecular interaction of target and ligand for drug / insecticide development.
ii) To assist the investigators in genomic studies
Note:
Scientist C:
1. M.E/M. Tech. Degree will be treated equal to 2 years experience.
2. Candidates with M.E/ M.Tech. Degree and 4 years experience in the required subject will be preferred in case of B. Tech. Degree holders.
Scientist B:
1. Ph.D. Degree in relevant subjects shall be treated equivalent to three years experience.
2. Candidates with Ph.D or M.E/ M.Tech degree will be preferred.
General:
1. Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped candidates will be as per Govt. of India norms.
2. Experience should be from an organization of repute.
3. Mere fulfilling the essential qualification does not guarantee for the selection.
4. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
5. Consolidated salary of the post may vary
6. Separate application should be submitted for each post
7. The selected candidates will have no claim for regular appointments in any ICMR institutes for continuation of his/her services in any other project Candidates must bring along with them all the relevant documents in original and one set of attested photocopies of the same and one passport size recent colour photograph. No TA/ DA will be paid for attending the interview and candidates have to make their own travel arrangements.
