Course Contents

Introduction to Agricultural Bioinformatics : Bioinformatics in Agriculture & Veterinary Sciences: An overview, Bioinformatics tools and databases, Application of Bioinformatics: Sequence alignment, Molecular phylogeny, Gene Annotation and Primer designing using various bioinformatics tools

Structural Bioinformatics and molecular modeling : Protein structure prediction, visualization and validation (Modeller, Swiss PDB Viewer, PyMol, SAVES Server), Binding site prediction (Q site finder, Pocket Finder tool), Ligand designing (MarvinSketch, ChemSketch) and Molecular docking (AutoDock, Hex).

Introduction to Computational Systems Biology : Bioinformatics and systems biology hierarchy: Advantages and limitations, Retrieval of biological pathways & Network from Data Resources: Metabolic and gene regulatory pathway databases (KEGG, BioModel, Panther, Pathway Hunter Tool), Protein–Protein Interaction Databases (STRING, MINT, and BINDplus etc.).

Visualization and analysis of biological networks : Protein-protein interaction networks, metabolic networks and gene regulatory networks.

Modeling of biomolecular interaction networks and biological pathways : Pathway modeling and analysing using CellDesigner, Cytoscape.

Simulation of biological systems: Molecular Simulation to biochemical network perturbation in biological behavior, Simulation of metabolic network and Gene regulatory network using CellDesigner and COPASI.
