Advertisement for the post of Project Associate-I (01) and Field Assistant (01) in DBT
funded Research Project
Applications are invited for one post of Project Associate-I and one post of Field Assistant under
DBT funded research project entitled “Assessment of silicate solubilizing bacterial biodiversity
and abundance with physicochemical characteristics of paddy fields in East Khasi Hills,
Meghalaya, for development of location specific biofertilizer (BT/PR53750/NER/95/2213/2024)”
sanctioned to Dr. Arvind Kumar, Department of Biochemistry, NEHU, Shillong. The
appointments will be purely on a temporary basis as per the regulation of DBT, Govt. of India, and
North Eastern Hill University, Shillong.
Position 1: Project Associate-I for maximum of 3 years.
Position 2: Field Assistant for maximum of 1 year.
Fellowship: As per DBT norms.
Project Associate-I @ (i) Rs. 31,000/- P.M. + HRA for those
candidates who qualified CSIR-UGC NET-LS, GATE or national level examinations conducted
by central Government Departments and their agencies (ii) Rs 25,000/- P.M. + HRA for others
Field Assistant @ Rs. 20,000/- P.M.+ HRA
Essential qualifications:
For Project Associate-I Master degree (M.Sc.) in Biochemistry/
Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Botany/ Life Sciences or relevant subjects.
For Field Assistant B. Sc. in Natural (Life Sciences) or Agricultural Sciences
Desirable qualifications:
For Position 1- Experience in soil microbiology, molecular biology and
phylogenetic analysis.
For Position 2- Experience in rhizosphere and bulk soil sample collection
or M. Sc. in Life Sciences.
Upper age limit: 35 years for position 1 and 50 years for position
2.
Nature & Period of Post:
Appointment of Project Associate-I is initially for six months with a
possibility of subsequent extensions for maximum up to 3 years.
Field Assistant appointment is
also initially for six months with a possible extension of another six months. However, any
extension is subject to satisfactory performance, which will be evaluated every six months.

separate applications. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview.
General terms and conditions:
1. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview.
2. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
3. Mere fulfilling the essential qualification/experience does not guarantee selection.
The decision
of the selection committee will be final.

4. Candidates have to produce original documents of their qualifications, age, and experience etc.
at the time of interview. If any of them are found incorrect at any step, their selection will be
automatically cancelled.
5. The positions are entirely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
6. Other terms and conditions prescribed for Project Associate-I and Field Assistant by DBT,
Government of India, will be applicable.
