Opportunities for Students’ Project Dissertation Programme

Who are eligible?

Final Year M.Sc. / M.Tech. / M.C.A. (Biological Sciences/Computer Sciences) Students

The details: The Biomedical Informatics Centre, VCRC, invites applications for project dissertation programme from the students who are interested in the fields of Bioinformatics and Computer Science. Students who are pursuing their post graduation courses in any recognised Universities/Institutes/Colleges are eligible to apply. Students who are willing to spend a minimum period of 4 months to a maximum of 6 months, without any break, would be eligible for the programme.

Project areas:

(i) Bioinformatics: Structure based drug design, Virtual Screening, Pharmacophore modelling, QSAR, Molecular Modelling, Genomic and proteomic approaches of disease vectors and pathogens. Perl, Bio-Perl, Bio-Java, R-Language related projects. Software available at the Institute: Discovery Studio V.4.0 (Complete Package).

(ii) Computer Science: Data analysis and model development using data mining tools and machine learning algorithms and Mobile application development.

Publication: Publication of the dissertation works in any journals/proceedings and attending conferences / workshops will be permitted only with the permission of the Director, VCRC.

Course Fee: Rs.10,000/-

Accommodation: The students have to make their own arrangements for accommodation

Application: Interested candidates are required to fill in the application form (see below the Format) and send to the Director, Vector Control Research Centre, Indira Nagar Medical Complex, Gorimedu, Puducherry-605006, mentioning on the top of the envelop as “Application for the Dissertation Programme”. The last date of receipt of application will be 25 th January, 2016.

Selection: All the eligible candidates will be called for a written test / interview and the names of selected candidates will be posted in our website.
