Objective of the training program:
To train technical staff of ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute for enriching their knowledge along with skill in management, care and handling of laboratory animals according to the animal welfare and ethical norms.
Eligibility Candidate should be a permanent technical staff of ICAR- Indian Veterinary Research Institute.
Course content
Introduction to laboratory animals
Good laboratory practices in animal experiential house on following aspects
o Handling of laboratory animals
o Breeding and housing practices in laboratory animals
o Feeding and watering practices in laboratory animals
o Transportation of laboratory animals
o Sample collection (blood and tissue) from laboratory animals
o Anesthesia, euthanasia and post-mortem of laboratory animals
o Handling of carcass and its disposal
Ethics, legislation and record keeping on laboratory animals
