Goals of employment:
A three-year PhD scholarship in the framework of OPUS 13 (UMO-2017/25/B/NZ9/00720) project
financed by National Science Centre, Poland is available at the Dept Integrative Plant Biology. This
position is available to to a highly motivated person in the area of molecular plant-microbe
interaction.
The successful candidate is expected to work in the following aspects:
• Establish and maintain plant tissue cultures
• PCR, Realtime-PCR, gene cloning
• Plant transformation and molecular confirmation of transgenic plants
• Protein-protein interaction (Yeast-two-hybrid analysis, BiFC assay)
• Analytical techniques (HPLC, Orbitrap-MS and related)
• Prepare high quality scientific articles and communications for publication
In addition to the above tasks, the candidate will be required to register for PhD, participate in the
activities related with the doctoral thesis (eg. Inscription in the doctoral School, participation in
seminars and workshops, etc.) and other Institute and Department activities and initiatives, in
agreement with the rules of the Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, the applicant should possess a Master degree in the area of Life
Sciences or related disciplines. Candidates with experience in plant molecular biology or
proteomics evidenced by publications will be preferred.
The candidate should be able to work in an international team (www.biotalent.eu), face new
challenges and the solve problems. Excellent verbal and writing skills in English is required.

Poznan is one of the largest plant science centres in Poland with universities and numerous
scientific institutes and research centres hosting annually over 130 thous. students. The Institute of
Plant Genetics in Poznan has a strong tradition of research on theoretical and applied aspects of
plant biology. Our scientific activity encompasses wide array of scientific disciplines like
metabolomics, transcriptomics, molecular biology and bioinformatics.
This project will be implemented at the Department of Integrative Plant Biology of the Institute of
Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences. This Department was created within the frame of EU
ERA-CHAIR project BIO-TALENT (http://www.biotalent.eu/) to combine various disciplines and
reinforce the research potential through joining the European Research Area, employment of
excellent scientists in plant biology and strengthening international co-operation with leading
European researchers and laboratories.
