The Raman Research Institute, funded by the Government of India, is a premier institute engaged

Applications are invited for TWO POSTS of RESEARCH ASSISTANTS for the PROJECT
Designing and characterization of smart, stimuli responsive materials using colloidal
particles and biopolymers. The appointment is on a temporary basis. The candidates will be
associated with the Soft and Adaptive Materials Lab in Soft Condensed Matter Group of the
Institute for a period of one year, with a possible extension by another year. The candidate
should be motivated and should have working experience in experimental work. The details of
the required qualifications and experience are given below:
Job Description:
To assist in the experimental work involving:
(a) Large scale synthesis and characterization of monodisperse colloidal particles over wide
range of sizes, shapes and surface properties.
(b) Synthesis, handling and fluorescent labelling of biopolymer (e.g. collagen) networks and
characterization using fluorescence/confocal microscopy.
Remuneration: A consolidated remuneration of Rs. 23,500/- per month + HRA (24% of
consolidated remuneration) will be paid to the selected candidates for a period of one/two years.
Essential Qualification:
M.Sc. (Physics / Biophysics / Biochemistry) or M.E./ M. Tech (Material Science / Chemical
Engineering / Polymer Physics)
Desirable:
The candidate should be motivated and should have a flair for experimental work.
The candidate should have working experience in one or more of the following:
(a) Large scale synthesis and characterization of colloidal particles.
(b) Handling and fluorescent labelling of bio-polymer networks like actin and collagen.
(c) Bright Field, Fluorescence and Confocal microscopy.
(d) Basic instrumentation.
(e) Basic image processing and programming.
Upper Age Limit: The upper as limit is 35 years, as on the last date for closing of applications.
