We are looking for suitable candidates for the position of Project Scientist-I to be part of the Centre for Bioinformatics established at NCBS. The candidate will coordinate operations of the bioinformatics centre and associated projects, meetings, capacity building (training and workshops). The projects will involve the use of next-generation genome sequencing and genome informatics for applications in biodiversity and human health.
1) Position Title: Project Scientist I (Program Manager)
Qualifications: Doctoral Degree in Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable Experience:
Should have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to handle multiple projects and manage meetings and workshops.
Experience in whole-genome sequencing analysis, transcriptome data analysis and protein structure bioinformatics, and protein sequence analysis is a must.
Programming experience in Python/R or any other language, knowledge of Linux environment, cluster management.
Experience in database management and algorithm design is a plus. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
An applicant with a minimum experience of 1-2 years (post-PhD) will be preferred.

Candidates should have extensive programming experience in Python/R or any other programming language and knowledge of the Linux environment.
Should have familiarity to troubleshoot any computer cluster related problems.
Prior experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS) ‘omics’ data analysis is desirable while experience with long-read sequencing is a plus.
Knowledge of protein structure, sequence bioinformatics is necessary.
Good presentation skills, publications and the ability to handle large-scale data are desirable.
