KFRI Plant Sciences Project Assistant Vacancy

A walk-in interview to fill the post of  Project Fellow to join a time-bound research programme on " Assessment of socio-economic and cultural uses and potential for popularisation of Dendrocalamus stocksii and Munrochloa ritchiei, two bamboo species endemic to the Western Ghats" will be held at 10.00 am onward on 22 November 2021 , at KFRI . Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criterion mentioned below are invited to attend the interview. Please bring testimonials in original.

Project No. & Name  :      KFRI/RP 835/2021-Assessment of socio-economic and cultural uses and potential for popularisation of Dendrocalamus stocksii and Munrochloa ritchiei, two bamboo species endemic to the Western Ghats

Duration  :  Up to 30-09-2023

Essential qualification  :      

1. First Class Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree in Botany or Plant Sciences from any of the UGC approved Universities in India.

2. Doctoral research fellowship from UGC-CSIR or any other reputed research-funding agency, with an assured minimum fellowship duration of 18 months remaining at the time of application.

Desirable qualification  :  

1. Working knowledge in Malayalam language and proficiency in English language.

2.   Preference will be given for those who have prior research experience in bamboo diversity conservation or propagation.

Fellowship :   Rs.22,000/- per month

Age  :     As on 01/01/2021 - 36 years. Age relaxation of five years in the case of scheduled caste/scheduled tribe candidates and three years in the case of other backward communities as per government rules will be given.

Note  :            The project involves extensive field visits, only those willing to travel extensively need to apply. The project would provide opportunity for the appointed fellow for taking up Doctoral research on a topic related to the project objectives subject to the existing rules at the Institute.
