Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (www.instem.res.in) is an Autonomous
Institution under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India invites
applications for the post of Lab Assistant to join its Transgenic Services team on contract basis.
Institute for Stem Cell Science & Regenerative Medicine (inStem) along with National Centre for
Biological Sciences (NCBS) & Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) forms the
Bangalore Bio-cluster. At an appropriate point, the incumbent may be entrusted the responsibility
of overseeing the management functions of the cluster institutions.
Qualification & Experience:
BE/B.Tech/M.Pharma/Masters in any biological sciences with prior experience and expertise in
molecular biology techniques.
Prior experience in handling of laboratory mice / rats, knowledge /
experience in transgenic / knock out techniques and technologies is desirable. Excellent
organization, recordkeeping, and English communication skills are essential.
Job Responsibilities:
Coordinate and participate in the daily operations of the mouse genome engineering facility
providing transgenic and cryopreservation services
Designing gene targeting strategies in mouse model generation
Cloning of targeting and transgenesis vectors
Generating CRISPR/Cas9-based reagents (i.e. gRNAs and templates)
Designing genotyping strategies
Conducting molecular biology services related to the generation and genotyping of
transgenic mice
Embryo collection, manipulations, Colony management, post-surgical animal monitoring
and care
Accurate recording keeping as per Standard Operative Procedures.
Data management of client’s project, Communicating project status and results with
clients.
Pay Scale:
As per Govt. norms based on experience and qualification

Qualification & Experience:

teaching and science communication.
Excellent English communication and organizational skills are essential.
Skills in video editing, scientific digital illustration, and design of teaching support materials are
also highly desirable.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the organization of training and workshop programs
- Assist in the design of video based tutorials and demonstrations
- Assist in the organization and moderation of webinars & online workshops
- Manage and consolidate post webinar/workshop analytics
- Design of various outreach and publicity material
- Design and maintenance of a dedicated webpage and social media platforms.

skills are essential.
Prior experience in handling and working with laboratory mice is desirable.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the breeding programs of specific laboratory mouse strains as per client
experimental needs.
- Collect biopsies and Genotyping of laboratory mice.
- Maintain rigorous records of breeding schedules and production outcomes.
- Provide clear, organized weekly reports on colony animal health status, production
efficacies and genotyping results.
- Preparing animals & corresponding documentation for shipment to client facilities.
