Vacancy for Research Personnel under Projects

Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON), under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India wishes to engage the following research personnel (Indian national only) on purely temporary basis. Interested candidates may apply online. Details of the vacancies and application procedures are given below;

1. SENIOR RESEARCH BIOLOGIST – 01 POSITION
   • Project Title: Rejuvenation of storm water drain and restoration of holding ponds in Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation area. (Duration- 01 year; Project PI- Dr. Goldin Quadros)
   • Essential Qualifications: 1) Post graduate degree with minimum 55% in either Zoology, Botany or Environmental Sciences. 2) Minimum three years field work experience with minimum of one year in coastal intertidal region.
   • Desirable: 1) Minimum 3 publications in SCI journals. 2) Proficiency in spoken Hindi and Marathi languages 3) Knowledge on basic computer office softwares
   • Upper Age limit as on 31-Jul-2022 : 32 years
   • Fellowship: Rs. 35,000 + HRA
   • Description of Work: The project involves both field and Laboratory work. Field work will involve field observations and sample collection in the coastal swampy intertidal areas. The Laboratory work will include water, soil analysis and benthic sample identification and analysis. SRB will have the responsibility of coordinating with the local officials including village community, compiling data, drafting the report and any other work that will be required in the field. The JRB will help in the field sampling and laboratory analysis and also assist the SRB in the smooth functioning of the project. The team will have to invest equal amount of time in field and laboratory.
2. JUNIOR RESEARCH BIOLOGIST – 01 POSITION

3. JUNIOR RESEARCH BIOLOGIST – 01 POSITION
   • Project Title: Bird/wildlife Hazards to aircraft in Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi (Duration- 01 year; Project PI- Dr. P V Karunakaran & Dr. P Pramod)
   • Essential Qualifications: 1) Post graduate degree with minimum 55% in either Zoology, Wildlife Sciences, Botany or Life Sciences.
   • Desirable: 1) Bird identification skills, 2) Communication skills in Hindi and English
   • Upper Age limit as on 31-Jul-2022 : 28 years
   • Fellowship: Rs. 31000 + HRA
   • Description of Work: The project involves both fieldwork and report writing. The selected candidate is expected to conduct bird/wildlife and landuse surveys in and around Varanasi International Airport and assist the Investigators in other project related activities.

• Application form should be complete with copies of certificates, mark lists and testimonials of essential and desirable qualifications, research experience, date of birth, community, extracurricular activities etc. (Please do NOT send hard copies of application forms).
• If selected, all original documents in support of qualifications, age, experience etc. should be produced by the candidate for verification before joining SACON
• The hard copies of the filled-in application form along with self-attested true copies of all supporting documents should also be submitted at the time of joining
• The final selection will be through an online Interview to be conducted for the shortlisted candidates (Likely to be held in the second week of August 2022, exact date will be intimated to the shortlisted candidates)

1. Candidates applying for the above positions should possess all the essential Qualifications (with originals of supporting documents) as on the date of application deadline.
2. A candidate can apply for maximum of two advertised positions only. Candidates applying for two positions should submit separate sets of application forms and attachments.
3. The upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically Challenged categories as per applicable Central Government norms.
4. Selected candidates will be provided hostel accommodation at SACON as per availability. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel will be admissible as per the rules.
