The National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) is an Autonomous Institute of
the Government of India, under the aegis of the Department of Biotechnology. This is the
first Institution on India explicitly devoted to research, training, translation, service and
capacity building in biomedical genomics.
Post Professor / Scientist G
Essential Qualification
(I) Ph.D. in any branch of Life Sciences or Statistical Science or
Computational Science or Genetic Epidemiological Science of relevance to
Biomedical Genomics or M.D with 12 years of research experience.
Desirable Qualification
1. Should be a leader in Cancer Biology or Genome Biology or
Microbiology or System Biology or Infection & Immunity. The
candidate should have documented expertise and publications in any of
the following: Genome editing using human cells or any model
organism, Chromosome biology, Single cell/spatial genomics or
imaging/microscopic techniques, translational capability, drug
screening.
2. Excellent Track Record of High-Quality Research, Publications,
Patents, Awards. Ability to guide large research activities with experience in Administration, Translational Research and Teaching.
Possessing excellent leadership ability, experience in successfully
running large programmes, Centre of Excellence etc.
Job description
The appointed Professor will be responsible for running his research
laboratory to the highest international standards, do teaching of PhD and
integrated PhD students, carry out a degree of administrative duties. Very
generous start up grants will be provided to the successful applicants. The
institute also usually provides very competitive intramural funding as
compared to other institutes in India. However the candidates have to apply
for competitive extramural funds (both in India and abroad) as intramural
funding is not guaranteed. He/she shall assist the Director / Associate
Directors in such matters as may be determined by the Director from time
to time and shall also exercise such powers and perform duties as may be
assigned by the Director / Associate Directors.
