RECRUITMENT NOTIFICATION 

BRIC-CDFD, an Institute of the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, invites applications from Indian nationals for the following purely temporary vacancies in research projects funded by National / International agencies at BRIC-CDFD. 

The description of the positions and minimum qualifications for various vacancies are as follows: 

Educational Qualification and Experience required for the post: 2 

Project: Development and validation of a high-throughput genome-wide SNP array for Sugarcane (Saccharum spp) (funded by Dept. of Biotechnology)

PI : Dr. Ajay Kumar Mahato

Senior Research Fellow (SRF) 

Project Code: BRICCDFD/P-329/SRF/1 

Rs. 42,000/- + 30% HRA 

Master’s degree in Bioinfomatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Genomics, Computer Science, or any allied discipline as per DST/DBT/ICMR norms for Senior Research Fellow, and two years of work experience. 

Experience in bioinformatics analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and wholegenome resequencing (WGS) data from plant genomes, including quality control, read mapping, SNP/Indel discovery, filtering and annotation using standard bioinformatics tools (e.g. FastQC/Fastp, BWAMEM, SAMtools, BCFtools, GATK, FreeBayes, SnpEff/VEP). 

Candidates should have experience in plant and population genomics, including analysis of complex/polyploidy genomes, genetic diversity, PCA, linkage disequilibrium and population structure, with proficiency in Linux/Unix, HPC environments and workflow management systems such as Snakemake or Nextflow being desirable. 

Project: Phosphatase connections with Wnt signaling and their role in human cancers (funded by Dept. of Biotechnology)

PI :Dr. M V Subba Reddy 

Research Associate (RA) - I 

Project Code: BRICCDFD/P-322/RA-I/1 

Rs. 58,000/- + 27% HRA 

PhD/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree, or having 3 years’ experience of research, teaching and design and development experience after MSc/ME/M.Tech, with at least one research paper in a Science Indexed (SCI) Journal. 

The candidate must have proven experience in handling biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology experiments along with animal experience with small animal models (e.g., mice or rats) for in vivo validation of in vitro cellular findings. The candidate must have at least one (and preferably more) first-author research paper in reputed journals. 

Project: Impact of DNA topology and its structural alterations on genome organisation and their manipulation as a biomaker and a target for cancer (funded by DBT / Wellcome Trust India Alliance) 

PI : Dr. Yathish Jagadheesh Achar

Research Associate (RA) - I 

Project Code: BRIC-CDFD/P294/RA-I/1 

Rs. 47,000/- + 24% HRA 

PhD/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3 years’ experience of research, teaching and design and development experience after MSc/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in a Science Indexed (SCI) Journal. 

Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related field, with experience in NGS data analysis. Strong hands-on experience in analysing Hi-C, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, and other genomic/epigenomic datasets; experience with DNA topology/supercoiling datasets will be an advantage. Proficiency in R and Python, with experience in statistical analysis, genomic data processing, visualization, and development/adaptation of bioinformatics pipelines. Knowledge of 3D genome organization, including TADs, chromatin compartments, chromatin interactions, and integration of Hi-C with other genomic datasets, is desirable. Familiarity with Linux/Unix, shell scripting, HPC environments, and commonly used bioinformatics tools and databases. Ability to perform multi-omics data integration and interpret computational results in the context of genome organization, gene regulation, and cancer biology. Strong analytical, scientific writing, and data visualization skills, with the ability to work independently.
