Walk in interview on 28th September, 2026 

A walk-in interview will be held for 1) Post of Junior Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow (One Post) and Field Assistant (02 Posts) under the DBT sponsored project on “Genetic dissection for fruit size, quality and bacterial blight resistance in pomegranate through genome-wide association mapping”. 

Candidates interested in research with the qualifications given in the following table may report for the interview at 09:30 A.M. on 28th September, 2026, Division of Fruits & Horticultural Technology, IARI, Pusa Campus, New Delhi 110 012. 

Junior Research Fellow/ Senior Research Fellow (One post) 

Rs. 37000 +HRA (27%) for first and second year and Rs. 42000 + HRA (27%) for third year 

Essential qualifications: Master’s degree in Horticulture/Fruit Science/Genetics/Plant Breeding/ Genetics and Plant Breeding/Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology/ Life Sciences with 4/5 years bachelor’s degree. Candidate must have a postgraduate degree in Basic Sciences with a 3-year bachelor’s degree, and must have UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET, GATE qualification, or an equivalent, or a Ph.D. in any of the above disciplines. (As per ICAR memorandum F. No. Agri. Edn./6/27/2014/HRD Dated 13.07.2015 and F. No. Agri. Edn./6/27/2014/HRD Dated 09.10.2015). 

Desirable: Experience in molecular markers, marker assisted breeding, phenotyping of fruit crops, biochemical analysis and wellversed with data compilation and analysis (both morpho-chemical and molecular data) using Microsoft excel, ‘R’ and other relevant software. 

Field Assistant (Two Posts) 

Rs. 20000 + HRA (27%) B.Sc./ 3 years diploma in Engineering and Tech. Graduate degree in any discipline. (As per DST Office memorandum No. SR/S9/Z-05/2019 Dated: 21- 08-2019) 

Desirable: Should be able to take and record fruit data. Can carry out various fruit analysis including biochemical analysis. Well-versed with Microsoft excel Terms and Conditions  Age limit for Junior Research Fellow/ Senior Research Fellow: Maximum 35 years for men and 40 years for women (Age relaxation for SC/ST/ OBC as per Govt. of India/ICAR rules) and Field Assistant: Maximum age 50 years  Candidates for JRF/SRF should report by 9:30 AM on 28th September, 2026 for verification of Certificates (must bring original certificates). Candidates reporting after 10.30 AM for certificate verification will not be considered for interview. Interview for the post of Field Assistant will follow the JRF/SRF interview on the same day.  No objection Certificate (NOC) from the current employer is required, if working.  Bio-data as per the format given in Annexure 1 should be submitted along with attested copies of 10th , 12th, Under-graduation, Post-graduation and other certificates required. Affix an attested recent passport size photograph in the Bio-data. The bio-data should include academic qualifications from 10th Standard to the maximum qualification, with % marks obtained, distinction/medal, date of birth certificate, and NET/equivalent certificate, if any. Proof of experience and publications also need to be submitted. This is required to calculate the academic score. If the candidates do not fill the marks and attach relevant attested certificates, the academic score will not be awarded.  Candidate should bring project work report/thesis, testimonials/experience certificates, published research papers, etc. to support their claim on experience.  Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for the posts of Junior Research Fellow/ Senior Research Fellow under the DBT-funded project, purely on a contractual basis by the Division of Fruits and Horticultural Technology, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi-110012. Shortlisted candidates based on essential qualifications will be called for the interview on 28th September, 2026.  The above posts are purely temporary and will be filled on contractual basis for an initial period of one year or project duration whichever is earlier, which may be extended on yearly basis after satisfactory performance of the incumbent till termination of the scheme. There is no provision of re-engagement after termination of the scheme. Selected candidate shall not claim for regular appointment at this institute as the fellowship is co-terminus with respective scheme.  TA/DA: No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.  The selected candidates will be required to produce medical certificate at the time of joining.  Only the candidates having essential qualifications would be entertained for the interview.  Concealing of facts or canvassing in any form shall lead to disqualification or termination.  If the candidate’s near or distant relative is an employee of the ICAR/IARI, have to declare his/her name, designation, nature of duties, relationship in the declaration form attached herewith.
