Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary position of one Research Associate- I in the Gates foundation funded project entitled “Development of climate resilient chickpea and brassica by gene editing”, under the supervision of Dr. Senthil-Kumar Muthappa, Scientist, NIPGR. The details of position are as under: 

Research Associate-I (One Post) 

Emoluments: ₹ 58,000/- plus 27% HRA per month. 

Qualification: Candidates with a PhD in Life science and a strong publication record in relevant areas, with at least one research paper in SCI-indexed journal, are eligible to apply. 

Candidates should have prior research experience in gene editing technology. 
Experience in chickpea transformation and functional characterization and/or phenotyping of plants will be preferred. 

The selected candidate will work on the development of chickpea lines with combined tolerance to dry root rot and drought stress trough gene editing and any other work allocated. The above position is completely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship/emolument amount for the above position is as sanctioned in the project and as per NIPGR/DBT/DST norms. The initial appointment will be for one year or till the tenability of the project whichever is earlier and the same can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. 

NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The appointment may be terminated any time by giving one-month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR. Candidates need to apply by filling up the necessary information through the Google Form (https://forms.gle/1tqkmt6J1LB4Udsi9) within 15 days from the date of advertisement. Applicants must upload a cover letter expressing their interest, along with a complete biodata in the prescribed format, self-attested scanned copies of all mark sheets and certificates (from Class X onwards), and proof of research experience and publications, compiled into a single PDF file and submitted through the Google Form. Incomplete applications or applications submitted without the required supporting educational certificates will be rejected. Candidates must use exactly the same name in the Google Form as it appears on their educational certificates. 

A web link for the online interview, along with the date and time, will be sent by email only to the shortlisted candidates. Candidates are advised to ensure that they meet the prescribed eligibility criteria before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be considered for shortlisting or interview. Note: Incomplete application and those in the wrong format will be summarily rejected. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the online interview.
