Title of the Project/scheme: “National Livestock Disease Epidemiology and Disease Modelling Program” (BMGF)” [PI: Dr. Baldev Raj Gulati, Project Coordinator] 

2. Senior Research Fellow (One position) 

Master degree in M.V.Sc in Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology/Veterinary Microbiology/Veterinary Parasitology/Veterinary Pathology/Life Sciences with 4 years/5 years of Bachelor’s degree. Candidates having post-graduate degree in Basic Sciences with 3 years Bachelor’s degree and 2 years Master’s degree should have NET qualifications and 2 years of research experience

• Experience in molecular techniques such as PCR, QPCR, Sequencing etc. 
• Experience in serological techniques such as ELISA, SNT. 
• Experience in investigating livestock disease outbreaks • Experience of delivering lectures in training programs related to Veterinary Epidemiology (Responsibilities) 
• Ability to work in challenging field conditions and rural environments

Title of the Project/scheme: “Advancing Bovine TB Control through Diagnostics and Vaccines (ABTBC)” [PI: Dr. M. Nagalingam, Project Investigator] 

3. Project Manager (One position) 

M.V.Sc. / M.Tech. / Master’s degree in Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology / Veterinary Microbiology / Epidemiology / life Science, with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in epidemiology, disease surveillance or field trial implementation after completion of Master’s degree. 

• Demonstrated experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex, multi-institutional research projects. 
• Experience in design and conduct of field / herd-level intervention or cohort studies in livestock, including randomisation, cohort allocation and longitudinal follow-up. 
• Experience in diagnostic assay validation and quality assurance frameworks (WOAH validation pathway, ISO 17025:2017, inter-laboratory comparison, proficiency testing). 
• Experience in laboratory management, including BSL-2 / BSL-3 facility operations and handling of risk-group pathogens. • Experience of coordination with State Animal Husbandry Departments, national disease control programmes and international collaborating partners. Proficiency in epidemiological data analysis; scientific writing and publication record. (Responsibilities) 
• Lead and coordinate all technical work packages of the project and ensure timely delivery of objectives across all study sites. 
• Coordinate the demonstration-herd study - baseline whole-herd screening, cohort allocation, segregation management, vaccination and booster schedules, and surveillance calendars. 
• Coordinate diagnostic validation activities - interlaboratory reproducibility studies, field accuracy assessment, pairedsample studies and cut-off derivation. 
• Coordinate field trial implementation across India, including, monthly farm visits and field data quality audits. 
• Oversee laboratory operations, SOP preparation internal quality control, reference material maintenance and biosafety / biosecurity compliance. 
• Supervise project staff and fellows; conduct training programmes and capacity-building activities for field and laboratory personnel. 
• Compile, validate and analyse epidemiological, productivity and economic data; prepare technical reports, manuscripts and policy briefs. 
• Coordinate with State Animal Husbandry Departments, national and international partners and other stakeholders. Other assigned activities

4. Research Associate (One position) 

Ph.D. in Animal biotechnology/ Veterinary Microbiology / Microbiology / Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics / Life Sciences. OR Master’s degree in Animal biotechnology/ Veterinary Microbiology Microbiology / Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics / Life Sciences with 4 / 5 years of Bachelor’s degree, having 1st division or 60% marks or equivalent overall grade point average, with at least three years of research experience as evidenced from Fellowship / Associateship / Training / other engagements. 

• Hands-on experience in bacterial whole genome sequencing (WGS) data analysis — quality control, assembly, annotation, variant calling and phylogenomics. 
• Experience with Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex genomics, including lineage assignment, SNP-based typing and drug-resistance prediction pipelines. 
• Experience in metagenomics and microbiome analysis from clinical or environmental samples. 
• Proficiency in Linux / UNIX environment, R and Python; familiarity with workflow managers (Nextflow / Snakemake) and use of HPC / cloud resources. 
• Experience in comparative genomics, molecular epidemiology and transmission-cluster inference. 
• Experience in wet-lab library preparation and operation of IonTorrent and / or Oxford Nanopore platforms. Publications in peer-reviewed indexed journals; experience in delivering training. (Responsibilities) 
• Design and execute bioinformatics workflows for whole genome sequencing of Mycobacterium isolates — QC, assembly, annotation and comparative genomic analysis. 
• Perform species and lineage assignment, SNP-based typing, phylogenetic and phylodynamic analysis, and transmission-cluster inference. 
• Analyse metagenomic and targeted-sequencing data from clinical, milk and environmental samples for pathogen detection and characterisation. 
• Support antigen and peptide selection through comparative genomic and in-silico analyses relevant to DIVA-capable diagnostics. 
• Coordinate sequencing activities - sample selection, library preparation, liaison with sequencing facilities and data quality control. 
• Establish and document analysis pipelines, maintain version-controlled code, and prepare SOPs and analysis reports. 
• Curate project sequence data, prepare submissions to public repositories and maintain metadata standards. 
• Contribute to research publications and technical reports; assist the Principal Investigator in project monitoring and reporting. Deliver training and mentor project fellows in genomics and data analysis, and undertake other duties assigned by the Principal Investigator.

5. Young Professional-II (Three positions) 

Post Graduate degree in Microbiology / Biotechnology / Biochemistry/life sciences or its equivalent.

• Working experience in a microbiology laboratory. 
• Hands-on experience in PCR, real-time PCR and ELISA. 
• Experience in handling mycobacteria or other risk-group bacterial pathogens, including culture, decontamination and biosafety practices. 
• Experience in whole-blood based assays / interferon-gamma release assays (IGRA) and sample handling under field conditions. Proficiency in basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and laboratory data entry. 

Responsibility 
• Process field and laboratory samples blood, milk and tissue for serological, immunological and molecular testing. 
• Perform IGRA / whole-blood stimulation assays, ELISA, lateral flow tests, conventional PCR and real-time PCR. 
• Routine laboratory activities and undertake work under prescribed biosafety conditions. 
• Maintenance of data, SOPs, laboratory records, compilation and assist in laboratory quality management. 
• Travel to field sites across India for sample collection. Other assigned activities

• Experience in blood and clinical sample collection from cattle and buffaloes, and in restraint and handling of large ruminants. 
• Experience in field disease investigation, questionnaire-based data collection and farmer interaction. Responsibilities • Collect blood, milk and other clinical samples from cattle and buffaloes at demonstration herds and field sites.
