Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary position of one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the DBT project entitled “Peanut symbiotic hemoglobin (Blood) a potential coloring, savoring and flavoring agent for plant meat industry”, under the DBT-BIRAC Joint Call for Proposal on “Smart Proteins”, for Fostering High Performance Biomanufacturing under BioE3 policy. The details of the position are as follows. 

Name of the Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)- 01 posts.: 

Emoluments as per DBT/DST norms. 

Qualification: Candidates should have Master’s degree or its equivalent in any branch of Life Sciences/Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology or any other related field with two years’ post-master’s degree research experience in the relevant areas, and having CSIR-UGC NET/GATE and fulfilling the guidelines/norms of DST OM No: DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated June 26, 2023, are eligible. 

Furthermore, candidates with strong biochemistry skills and experience in protein purification from E. coli or Pichia will be given preference. 

Project Description: The host laboratory has engineered a plant-based globin gene with superior iron-loading capacity within the porphyrin ring and has optimized a large-scale protein production protocol in E. coli. Under this project, the JRF is expected to generate Pichia pastoris (green yeast) strains for the low-cost, large-scale production of this protein and to use the E. coli purified protein for organoleptic property testing in food matrices. 

Appointment Details The above positions are completely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship amount for the above position is as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project. 

The initial appointment for the above post will be for one year or until the tenability of the project, whichever is earlier, and the tenure of the post may be curtailed/extended based on the assessment of the candidate's performance and at the discretion of the Competent Authority. BRIC-NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be in accordance with the Government of India norms. The appointment may be terminated at any time by giving one month's notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim, implicit or explicit, for consideration against any regular position of BRIC-NIPGR. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the walk-in interview. 

Emoluments. Rs. 37000/- plus HRA per month, as sanctioned in the project.
