About the Workshop

The workshop consists of theory session followed by hands-on experiments of essential techniques in animal cell culture including: 
Basic Cell Culture Techniques 
Cell Culture and passaging. 
Cryopreservation and Revival. 
Trypan Blue Cell Viability Assay. 
MTT Assay for proliferation/cytotoxicity. 
Mixed Leucocyte Reaction. 
Drug uptake assay. 
Phase Contrast Inverted Microscopy. 
Fluorescence and Confocal Microscopy. 
Cytokine ELISA. 
RNA isolation, quantification and integrity analysis (28s:18s RNA). 
c-DNA synthesis. 
RT-PCR and result analysis.
Objectives of the workshop

• To provide a strong foundation in the principles and practices of cell culture techniques.
• To develop basic aseptic skills for carrying out mammalian cell culture and a clear understanding of cell based assays and their applications in a research setting.

Who should attend?

Postgraduate students, Ph.D. scholars, young researchers and individuals interested in pursuing mammalian cell culture in their field of research.

Payable Fee:

For PG students: Rs. 1,000/-*
For research scholars: Rs. 2,000/-*
For Industry persons :Rs. 3,000/-

Fee includes tuition, workshop material, lunch and tea/coffee. Registration over telephone / e-mail will not be accepted without receipt of fees.

*PG students and research scholars should attach a certificate from Head of f the Department and enclose a copy of their ID card.
