The case for ‘Make in India’, as concerns scope and potential through biotechnological approaches, is pivoted to knowledge and translational strengths in the area of bioprocessing. In academia, the subject of bioprocessing has a variable meaning, to certain extent, for everyone. But, for industry, its significance is more in product delivery than in scope and boundaries of its meaning.
We consider bioprocessing in its broadest sense as “Any approach of processing of biomass for a product or biological agent aided processing of any mass for a product”. It is under this umbrella of scope that Bioprocessing India 2016 is being organized jointly by Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB), Mohali, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali and Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH), Chandigarh.
The conference aims to bring together researchers across different science and engineering disciplines. The conference equally solicits and attracts participation of persons from industry/corporate and bioenterprises to share their views and expectations from bioprocessing research.
BACKGROUND OF BPI CONFERENCE SERIES
Bioprocessing India (BPI) conference series was initiated in 2013 with first BPI (BPI 2013) held at IIT Delhi. Subsequently, BPI 2014 was held at ICT Mumbai, and BPI 2015 was held at IIT Madras. Bioprocessing India 2016 (BPI 2016) being organized by CIAB in association with IISER Mohali and IMTECH Chandigarh pertains to be the 4th in the series.
