Bioinformatics JRF positions available in translational research laboratory

Applications are invited from highly motivated individuals to be part of a new Center for Molecular Medicine that is being established at National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore under a Wellcome DBT Margdarshi Fellowship-funded project. The focus of this new center, under the leadership of Dr. Akhilesh Pandey (http://pandeylab.igm.jhmi.edu), is to apply advanced technologies such as next generation sequencing, CRISPR/Cas9-based genome editing, mass spectrometry, animal models and bioinformatics to investigate cancer biology and neurological disorders.

Bioinformatics approaches play a central role in making breakthrough achievement in studying the large-scale data from high-throughput technological platforms in genomics and proteomics. The projects at this center will involve analysis of whole-exome and RNA sequencing data from cancers and inherited genetic disorders. In addition, mass spectrometry-derived data on a variety of projects will be analyzed. A major emphasis of the center is on creating manpower that is able to implement and develop advanced computational approaches in translating genomics, proteomics and metabolomics data sets into knowledge.

Positions are available for competitive candidates with programming experience in C/C++/Java/Perl/Python/R/SQL languages and good knowledge of biological resources and file formats. Candidates with demonstrated experience in large-scale data analysis projects at reputed institutes in India are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications for JRF: Candidates must have qualified JRF and be eligible for funding from any of the agencies: CSIR-UGC, DBT, BINC or DST-INSPIRE. The applicants should have M.Sc., M.Pharm or M.Tech in any field related to life sciences.

Interested candidates should send their detailed CV by email to pandey@jhmi.edu with the subject line indicating “JRF Position at the Center for Molecular Medicine.” Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via e-mail.
