National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali, is an autonomous R&D Institute under Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The institute has facilities to carryout advance biotechnology research in the areas of agricultural, food, and nutrition biotechnology. The detail facility is available at the institute website. The walk-In-Interview has been advertised for one Research Associate (RA), two Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and one Project Assistant (PA) under externally funded project on “Genome and transcriptome sequencing of aromatic rices from North Eastern Region” funded by the under Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India. Principal Investigator: Dr. T. R. Sharma Co-Investigator: Dr JK Roy 

1 Research Associate-1 (One)

Rs.36000/- + 20% HRA 

Essential: PhD in Plant Molecular Biology & Biotechnology/Genetics or M.Tech in above related area with at least 3 years of research experience; Candidates who have already submitted their PhD thesis in above subjects can also apply. 

Desirable: Research experience in Genomics, Molecular biology, NGS data handling, Gene cloning, transgenic Techniques, and computational analysis. 

2 Junior Research Fellow (Two) 

Rs. 25000/- + 20% HRA and Rs. 28000+20% HRA from 3rd year onwards 

Essential: Post Graduate Degree in basic science with NET such as ICAR/UGC-CSIR/DBT/ ICMR, etc. or Graduate degree in professional course with NET or Post Graduate Degree in professional course 

Desirable: 1. Post graduate (with thesis) in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Biosciences/ Bioinformatics, Genetics/ Plant Pathology with experience in molecular biology, Genomics, etc. 

Bioinformatics knowledge is important 

3 Project Assistant-II (One) 

Rs. 8000 (fixed) I st Class M.Sc/B.E/B.Tech 

Age limit: The upper age limit for applying for RA shall be 35 years and JRF and PA shall be 28 years at time of interview (April 26, 2017), which is relaxed upto 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes/OBC, Physically Handicapped/Visually Handicapped and female applicants. 

Sponsoring agency: Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. 

Duration: Three Years Selection Criteria: The RA/JRF will be hired as per the emoluments’ guidelines and service conditions notified by DST (DST OM No.SR/S9/Z-09/2012 dated 21.10.2014) and PA will be hired as per DST Guidelines no. C-30011/1/2007-IFD dated 21st July, 2008. 

Desirable: Preference will be given to candidates having qualification in any of the National Exams, good academic record, and research experience. NABI may or may not select candidate depending upon the suitability of the candidate to carryout high quality research. The selected candidates for JRF /PA may be encouraged to apply for the PhD program as per the prescribed guidelines at the Panjab University. Accommodation: The accommodation may be provided to the selected candidates in the newly built in campus-hostel as per the guidelines and room availability. 

Application and Selection Process: All interested candidates may appear for walkin-interview at National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute located at Knowledge city, Sector-81, Mohali- 140306, Punjab on 26th April, 2017 (Wednesday) at 09:00 AM along-with the duly filled application form available on the website www.nabi.res.in

The duly filled application form must be submitted at the time of registration at NABI from 09:00 AM to 11:00 AM on 26th April 2017. The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed. All the candidates are requested to appear for the interview with full CV, thesis/project report, experience certificates, publications and original degree certificates and transcripts. 

No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview. Canvassing in any form or bringing influence, political or otherwise, will lead to disqualification of the candidate(s).
