Applications are invited in the prescribed form on or before 5th June, 2010 for the following vacancies purely on temporary basis under Non-Institutional ad-hoc project at National Institute of Virology, Gorakhpur Unit.
01 Research Scientist-II (Epidemiology) - 1 Post
Consolidated Salary Rs 20700/- p.m (Non-Medical)
Essential Qualifications
(1) First Class Masters Degree in Life/Biological Sciences or relevant biological subjects OR Second Class Masters Degree in Life/Biological Sciences or relevant biological discipline subjects with Ph.D.(2) Four years research experience in the relevant areas.
Desirable Qualifications(1)Doctorate Degree in Life/Biological Sciences(2)Additional Post Doctoral Research/Teaching experience in relevant subjects.
(3)Knowledge of Computer applications.(4) Sound knowledge of the virology especially of clinical aspects of viral encephalitis. Plan and undertake sero surveys.
Age Limit Candidate should understand various concepts in molecular biology and immunology Not Exceeding 40 Years.
Job Requirements
Research at Gorakhpur lab related to epidemiology of viral encephalitis.
Supervision of the diagnostic tests carried out at Unit.
02 Research Scientist-I (Epidemiology)- 1 Post
Consolidated Salary Rs 16560/- p.m (Non-Medical)
Essential Qualifications(1) First Class Masters Degree in Life/Biological Sciences or relevant biological subjects OR Second Class masters Degree in Life/Biological Sciences or relevant biological discipline subjects with PhD
Desirable Qualifications(1) Doctorate Degree in Life/Biological Sciences.
(2) Three year research /teaching experience in the relevant areas.
(3) Knowledge of computer applications
Age Limit Not Exceeding 35 Years.
Job RequirementsCo-ordinating the epidemiological work for encephalitisKnowledge of various epidemiological techniques and programs.Expertise in using various softwares for epidemiological analysis.
03 Technical Officer ( Serology and Molecular Biology) - 2 Posts
Consolidated Salary Rs 13910/- p.m.
Essential Qualifications(1) Post Graduate with five years experience or Graduate with eight years experience or DMLT with ten years experience in Life/Biological Sciences
Desirable Qualifications Experience in handling animal viruses and animal tissue culture
Age Limit Not exceeding 35 Years.
Job Requirements(1) Serology :- Responsible for managing various serological tests.Sound knowledge of serological tests including handling of viruses and animal cell cultures would be required. Persons would be responsible for Quality assurance of the serological tests.(2) Molecular Biology:- Coordinating the molecular biology work in endemic areas of encephalitis. Sound Knowledge molecular biology techniques like RTPCR, Virus Culture etc.
04 Technical Assistant ( Serology) - 1 Post

Essential QualificationsPost Graduate Degree Life/Biological Sciences
Desirable Qualifications Experience in handling various biochemical serological tests.
Age Limit Not exceeding 28 Years.
Job Requirements Serology : Responsible for planning and carrying out various serological tests. A sound knowledge of trouble shooting in serological tests including handling of viruses and animal cell cultures is required.
06 Technician-B (Laboratory) - 1 Post
Consolidated Salary Rs 9630/- p.m.
Essential QualificationsB.Sc or intermediate with diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or High School with 5years experience
Age Limit Not exceeding 28 Years.
Job Requirements Collection of human samples from cases and entomological samples. Carrying out various serological and entomological tests.
1) Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PH Candidates will be as per Govt. of India norms.
2) Qualification & experience should be from an Institution of repute.
3) Mere fulfilling the essential qualification does not guarantee for the selection.
4) Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
5) Persons already in regular time scale service under any Government Department / Organizations are not eligible to
apply.
6) Candidates must bring along with them all the relevant documents in original and one set of attested photocopies of
the same and one passport size recent colour photograph at the time of interview.
7) No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
