ASSAM University UGC-BSR Research Fellowships in Ecology & Environmental Science

The University Grants Commission, New Delhi has awarded FIVE research fellowships to the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science, Assam University, Silchar for the year 2013-2014. Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for these research fellowships in the Department of Ecology & Environmental Science, Assam University, Silchar.

Name of the fellowship: UGC-BSR Research Fellowship

Total number of fellowships: 05 (five) (Reservation as per GOI Rule)

Nature of assistance : Fellowship = Rs. 14,000/- p. m for 1st and 2nd yrs = Rs. 16,000/- p. m for subsequent yrs+ HRA as per University rules.

Eligibility of fellowship: The research fellowships for the meritorious students who are selected for registering to the Ph.D. programme in the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science only are eligible to apply. The candidate belonging to ‘Single Girl Child’ category (one post) with the fulfilment of aforesaid criteria may also apply.

Tenure of Fellowship: The tenure of fellowship is initially for two years. Upon expiry of this period, the work of the fellow will be evaluated by the Expert Committee. If the research work is found satisfactory, the tenure of fellowship will be extended for a further period of three years. In case the research work for the first two years is not found satisfactory, an additional year will be given for the improvement In such cases work will be again evaluated after three years, and if improvement is found, the fellow will get an extension of two more years. The total period of fellowship is five years, with no further provision of extension.
