Eligible candidates are invited to attend a Walk-in-Interview for the posts of two (2) Junior
Research Fellows (JRFs) under the SERB (DST, Govt. of India) funded research project
entitled “Testing the efficacy of grass phytoliths in discriminating rainfall variations and
their application potential in the Holocene climate reconstructions: study along the
rainfall gradient of the Western Ghats, India" (File No. EMR/2016/006125; dated:
16.07.2018) under Prof. Subir Bera, Department of Botany, University of Calcutta (PI) and
Dr. Ruby Ghosh, Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, Lucknow (Co-PI).
1. Name of the post: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
2. Educational Qualification: Candidates should have M.Sc. in Botany (First
class/A+
) from recognised university under UGC.
Candidates with NET/GATE qualification and
with experience in Palaeobotanical/Palynological
techniques will be preferred.
3. Monthly stipend: Rs 25000/- + HRA per month for 1st two years
and Rs 28000/- + HRA per month for 3rd year (as
per rule) (NET-CSIR/UGC qualified)
Rs 12000/- + HRA per month for 1st two years
and Rs 14000/- + HRA per month for 3rd year (as
per rule) (NET-LS/GATE qualified and non
NET/GATE)
4. Duration: Three years or co-terminus with project
Interested candidates may appear before the selection committee on January 15, 2019 at 12
noon in the Office of the Head, Department of Botany, University of Calcutta, 35,
Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata- 700019 for interview. Candidates are requested to bring
2 sets of complete applications furnishing brief biodata on plain paper with original and
attested copies of testimonials during the interview.
